Chapter 30 Sacrifice “Sounds liking flying is the way to go…” Fraxi Lightning crashed all around us. The whole of the world was engulfed in the Storm’s blinding light. I felt needles in my eyes as my pupils dilated. When I was finally able to see again, I saw the backpack swirling in the winds of the Storm, with the leaves and the twigs and the detritus of a dozen worlds, around and around until, finally, it fell to the cement path, torn to shreds. Cole stared at the backpack for a moment before turning back to me, terrified. The scarves and the pendant weren’t enough for the Book. I knew what I had to do. But apparently, so did Cole. Our eyes met, his brows came down in a fierce scowl, and he charged straight at me. For the briefest moment I thought he was running from the Storm.
