*Frannie* I sit at the large mahogany desk in the grand library and study the books and ledgers Jack has set before me with almost as much concentration as I study him. He lounges on a couch near the window, looking through a black ledger as though he is seeking an answer to a puzzle that baffles him. I have known Jack for a good many years. He has always been like an older brother, looking out for me, making certain no one ever harms me or hurts my feelings.
