You have got to be kidding me.
That was my first thought as I attempted to zip out of class.
Funny of me to think it'd be that easy.
“Miss Alphonse,” Henry called.
I stilled, clutching the bag to my chest like a lifeline.
“Can you stay back for a moment please.”
I swallowed, and turned back around to face him.
Lena walked up to Henry, smiling brightly.
“Good day, Professor Henry.”
Henry smiled back. “Good day, Lena.”
“It's been so long, sir,” Lena said, hugging him slightly.
“It has been, glad to see you're still topping your class as usual.”
I pursed my lips in envy as she blushed slightly. “What can I say, sir? I guess I'm a prodigy.”
Henry chuckled softly. “I'd like to have a word with Miss Alphonse if you'll excuse me.”
“Aye, aye, captain.” She grinned with a mock salute and began walking towards the door, but not before—
“Damn, does that man just keep getting hotter?”
With that, the door slammed shut behind her.
I realized she was the last person to leave and that thought made me painfully aware of the fact that we were…
Alone.
“What exactly is going on?” I asked first.
“I will have you know that I did nothing suspicious,” he began, walking towards me.
My breath hitched, and I squeezed the bag with more force.
“I only showed up stating that I wished to help tutor the students for free… during my stay here.”
Of course…
Free.
Who would reject a man of his intellect when his services came for free?
“You put a few teachers out of work though,” I stated, dryly.
He shrugged. “I did it for you.”
I stilled for a second, something tightening in my chest at how easily he said it.
Fucking asshole.
“And I didn't actually put them out of work, I had a few schools that needed their skills to hire them.”
“I see…”
“It's the only way I can help you, Rosie. Because I don't know what my schedule looks like at the moment.”
Oh boy.
If he really wanted to help, then he shouldn't have come at all.
Now I most definitely won't be able to concentrate.
How could I?
When my p***y was calling his tantalizing lips to come lick—
“Since I had to drop everything to come down here with your mum, work has been a bit messy…” he said, running his hands through his hair.
My gaze trailed over his body in appreciation.
“It's alright, Henry,” I said. “I'm glad you're doing this for me.”
His eyes brightened with relief.
“Have you told Lena yet?”
“Umm… no I haven't, I will—”
“You don't need to rush anything, okay. Just… do it at your own pace.”
I nodded.
Then we just stared at each other in silence.
“You can go now, please. Thank you for your time.”
“Thank you, Henry.” I replied, walking out of the door.
I leaned on the door, closing my eyes, then I exhaled heavily.
“So…”
I opened my eyes, staring at Lena in surprise.
“Huh?”
“What did he want to talk to you about?”
I pushed off the door walking away. She followed me persistently.
“Christ Lena, he was talking about my grades.”
“He didn't have a one-on-one with me about mine though,” she said, pouting.
“My grades are bad Lena, that's what he was talking about.”
“And somehow, he's conveniently teaching the subjects that are giving you a hard time, or am I just reading too much into this?”
I rolled my eyes, walking faster.
“We have another class, Lena. Let's go.”
She scoffed lightly, but didn't say anything else as we entered our next class.
*****
The bell rang, signaling the end of school as students slowly began filing out.
As usual, Lena's ride came to pick her up, while I went towards the school bus.
“Miss Alphonse,” Henry called.
I tsked in annoyance, eyes darting around in search of an escape as he came closer.
“Rosie.” He called again, stopping in front of me.
“Hi, Henry, what's up?”
“I'm going home too, so… I thought I could drop you off.”
“I'm actually taking the bus—”
“I know Rosie, but what's the use?”
“It's fine, I don't want to stress you—”
“Stress me?” He echoed, frowning slightly.
“I'm literally going the same way—” he cut himself off, sighing tiredly. “Come on.”
“Henry, it's…” I trailed off, eyes fixed on the bus.
“Come on Rosie, what could go wrong… it's just a simple ride.” He said, arm outstretched.
Oh Lord.
My tongue darted to my bottom lip, gaze locked onto his.
What could go wrong?
I suddenly had this sinking feeling that a lot could go wrong.
And somehow…
He was hopelessly oblivious to that fact.
And I wasn’t sure I trusted myself enough for it to stay that way.
