*Maria Hermes walked from school to baseball practice, and met up with her friends. “Maaaaaria, come here girl. Why do you still walk to practice you know its getting bad out here?” “Sam, relax you know I can handle my self. Aint nothing new going on out here. People just want a reason to act loco” “Ummm, I don't know Maria, you remember my Ex, Mikey right? well he told me yesterday that he saw a dude over near that hospital on Olympus street, that was lifting a whole ambulance by himself from one side of the lot to the other and…” “well let me stop you there Sam, first of all you know Mikey stay on that *stuff right! That's why you left him in the first place. Also I went to that hospital last week for my physical exam and there wasn't any big man lifting a truck.” “and another thing…” “HERMES! Quit your squaking and get up here it's your turn to bat!” “yes coach, sorry coach!” “see what you did Sam, got me in trouble again!” *Samantha mockingly sticks her tongue out at Maria. Maria, stands at the plate awaiting the first pitch with no other teammate on the bases. Just as the fast ball was thrown it was struck by Maria's bat and she ran to first, second and then third base. The ball was recovered and thrown back towards home base to catch Maria as she steps off the third base plate. Maria with a tempered breath watched as the ball furrowed through the air, her heart beat and breathing were as loud as her thunderous stomps, as she ran towards home plate. The world was still as she saw the dust of the field rise and settle behind her steps. In that instant an overwhelming energy raced up her spine, and in a blink of an eye. She hears first, the sound of her shoes touching the plastic home plate. Second she hears the sound of the ball being caught by the catchers mitt behind her, and third after a brief period of silence, was the cascading cheers of her fellow teammates. Sam was the first and loudest to congratulate her. “Damn girl, I didn't know you can move like that” “your feet legit caught wings” “umm yea weird right” We fade away from the cheers of Maria's team to the northern half of the city. Simon Loki is at school, on lunch break, reading his books while eating lunch. An acquaintance of his peers over his shoulder. “Hey Simon since when do you read about neurology? Your normally strictly a physics guy” “just doing some digging, Eugine. Something wasn't feeling right a couple nights ago, and I've been having head aches.” “take some aspirin and be a man” “Ha, ha, ha, Eugine real funny.” “Hey Simon, do you want to split this apple with me… Ahhh of course you do, give me a second and ill go get a knife.” Simon sat at the table, glaring at the text book, until he notices his friends apple. He locked his eyes, focused and unwavering. Steadily the apple rolls upwards to sit on its base. But Simon wasn’t done. He intensified his focus, and the apple shook, and vibrated in place. The apple started to hiss, and in that instant, the apple split into two even halves. “Hey Simon, I got the knife… heeeey why didn't you tell me you had a knife, it took me forever to find this thing” *Simon scoffed, I don't exactly have tell you everything about me now do I.”
