Asher's POV
I vanished from my room, my vampire speed carrying me through the darkness. My heart raced with a mix of anxiety and determination. I had to find Nova.
Zara's voice echoed in my earpiece, her words tumbling out in a rush. "Asher, I've traced the signal to an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts. Be careful, he's got some serious tech and—"
I didn't wait for her to finish.I burst into the warehouse, my vampire speed carrying me through the darkness. My eyes locked onto Nova, her pale form limp in Kael's grasp. Rage and determination coursed through my veins.
Kael sneered, thinking he had the upper hand. But he was no match for me. I was a vampire of immense power, my strength honed over centuries. He was a mere fledgling, weak and arrogant.
I launched myself at him, my fists flying with precision and force. Kael stumbled back, his eyes wide with fear. He tried to defend himself, but my blows were relentless, crushing him with ease.
He crumpled to the ground, unconscious, defeated. I barely broke a sweat.
As I lifted Nova into my arms, she passed out, her body going limp. I held her close, my heart racing with a mix of anger and relief. I had saved her, and I would make sure she was safe from now on.
I turned to leave, Kael's defeat forgotten in my focus on Nova's well-being.
I turned to leave, Kael's defeat forgotten in my focus on Nova's well-being. As I walked away from the wreckage, I gently cradled Nova's limp form in my arms. My heart raced with concern, my mind racing with worst-case scenarios. I had to get her out of there, away from the warehouse and its dark memories.
I burst through the doors, into the cool night air. The city lights blurred together as I sped through the streets, my vampire speed carrying me towards the safety of my mansion. I couldn't wait to get Nova there, to tend to her wounds and make sure she was okay.
As I ran, I could feel her heart beating faintly against my chest. It was a reassuring sign, but I knew she needed medical attention, and fast. I pushed myself harder, my legs pumping furiously as I raced against time.
The wind whipped through my hair, and my senses went on high alert, scanning our surroundings for any signs of danger. But my focus remained fixed on Nova, her pale face and fragile form a constant reminder of my responsibility to protect her.
Finally, my mansion came into view, its towering spires and grand entrance a welcome sight. I burst through the doors, calling out for my staff to prepare the medical room. They scrambled to obey, their faces set with concern as they took in Nova's condition.
I laid her down on the bed, my hands gentle as I examined her wounds. She was battered and bruised, but alive. For now, that was all that mattered.
As I assessed Nova's injuries, my staff rushed to assist me, fetching medical supplies and equipment. I worked swiftly and precisely, my vampire reflexes allowing me to move with lightning speed and accuracy. I cleaned and dressed her wounds, administered a transfusion of blood to help her heal, and monitored her vital signs.
Slowly but surely, Nova began to show signs of improvement. Her heart rate stabilized, her breathing steadied, and her eyes flickered open. But instead of the relief and recognition I expected, her eyes were filled with fear.
She gazed up at me with a terrified expression, her pupils dilated and her brow furrowed. "No...no...please," she whispered, her voice trembling.
My heart sank, and I felt a surge of concern. "Nova, it's me, Asher. You're safe now. I've got you," I reassured her, trying to keep my voice calm and soothing.
But her fear only seemed to intensify, her eyes darting wildly around the room as if searching for an escape. "No...him...he's...he's coming for me," she stammered, her voice barely audible.
I tightened my grip on her hand, trying to offer comfort and reassurance. "Nova, you're safe. I won't let anyone hurt you. You're under my protection now," I vowed, trying to reassure her that she was truly safe.
As I spoke, her eyes began to droop, her eyelids fluttering closed as she succumbed to exhaustion. Her chest rose and fell in a slow, steady rhythm, and her grip on my hand relaxed. I watched over her, my heart still racing with concern, but grateful that she was finally at peace.
I sat beside her, holding her hand and watching over her as she slept. My mind raced with thoughts of Kael and the danger he posed, but I pushed them aside and focused on Nova's recovery.
As the hours passed, her sleep grew more peaceful, her breathing steadying and her body relaxing. I monitored her vital signs, relieved to see her injuries healing at an accelerated rate thanks to the blood transfusion.
Eventually, my staff came to relieve me, and I relinquished my post beside Nova's bed. But I couldn't shake the feeling of responsibility for her safety. I knew that Kael was still out there, and I was determined to put an end to his threats once and for all.
I left Nova's room, my mind already turning to strategies and plans. I would gather my allies and prepare for whatever it took to ensure Nova's safety. If eliminating all threats was what it took, then so be it. I would do whatever necessary to protect her.
As I walked through the mansion's halls, I felt a sense of determination and purpose. I would protect Nova at all costs. She was under my protection now, and I would make sure she never felt fear or harm again.
