**Andrew**
"Being a moral person requires taking on the personal responsibility of judging right from wrong and following one's own conscience, which is the opposite of respecting and obeying 'authority'." - Larken Rose
"What the f**k is she thinking..." I growled to Kolby as we paced. Him having control in our furry form. We paced outside of the pack's clubhouse. Our home away from home, and a gift from the Mages till we came of age and started truly building our pack compound. My Wolf, Kolby sighed trying to reason with me. "Andrew we were on patrol, she told us to turn around. I figured we should come here. We're still close in case she needs us. We couldn't disobey her." Though I knew he was right, I still felt rage digging its craws at my chest. Kolby was an anomally. Where most Wolves were animalistic and domainering. He wasn't. Our wolves were suppose to be the other halves of us that lived wild and free. Kolby did but didn't.
Kolby, was level-headed, kind-hearted, calm, and even more so forgiving. I believe I can be the same, but where I boil over to anger, he finds reasoning, and understanding in anothers actions. Kolby was also very protective of Silver and her Wolf Deva. They were a big part of uniting us. When I finally shifted for the first time, Deva stayed with me and my family. She'd rest her head on my shoulders between surges of pain as I fought the shift. I was scared by Kolby's strength and what it would mean if I didn't live up to my parent's legacy. Kolby tried to reason with me, because he knew what needed to be done where I was at a loss. Though Deva and Silver tried to reach out to help soothe me, they couldn't. They weren't part of my pack yet or of my bloodline. I decided looking into Deva's blue and brown eyes that I needed to accept the shift.
I took a breath and reached out to Kolby, giving him control. He calmed me with his words and guided me through this transition. He explained that together we were a half of a whole, then told us one day we would be complete. Till then we had to find a way to work together as one. The Moon Goddess blessed me, she couldn't have given me a better Wolf. When I was younger watching my parents turn, train, and defend pack memebers at all cost. I never thought I could be good enough for a Wolf. I would silently pray at night that I was a freak of nature and be a human. I would dream of being a musician or having an office job. I didn't want to train and my family to see the joke I was. I hated confrontation in all forms. When Kolby arrived, I became more determined and strongwilled. I trained without hesitation because I had a reason to fight. Silver, she brought out a protective side of me that I never understood. He*l, I still didn't.
Kolby would just simply explain it as "It's our duty, that's all I know right now." It drove me insane. My father thought that it was due to her potentially being my mate and maybe I had a sense of it. Sometimes families of stature in a pack had gifts. My father was an excellent tracker due to his heat vision. My mother had the gift of partial foresight, which meant that she could guess an answer and usualy be right without knowing why. My mother's opinion about Silver was different. She believed that my sense of protection to Silver was due to the fact that maybe I was suppose to be her Beta or Gamma. Kolby would then remind me, "Only time will tell." He spoke true, I would know when I turned 18. I had some time ahead of that though. The whole pack would understand their place among the ranks when we were of age. We'd be able to have an idea of what we'd be without being ranked, who our mates were, and Silver would be able to truly decide our fates.
Everyone had grown restless as we got closer to 18. Silver would be the first among us to be of age. She'd feel the full force of her bond with Deva, find her mate, get her gift as an Alpha, and would also be able to sense all of us without even opening a link with us. There was some concern about her birthday approaching. The Alpha Council wanted her to find her mate or choose one within a year of turning 18. If she didn't choose or find them, they would decide her fate. None of the Alpha's or even the Mages for that matter liked the idea of a female born Alpha, females were either Luna's or lesser ranking pack memebers. NOT Alpha's. Silver defied the laws. My father had told me that Deva was a very special Wolf. My father was the Gamma of the Cresent Moon Pack. He had even said, that he had never seen a Wolf like her. From her unusual coloring (the blue hue within her fur), her size (even for a female), and finally her dual colored eyes.
She always brought a smile to my mother's face though, even from the sight of her. As an Alpha Silver has been incredible, she doesn't sweat the small stuff. She looks at the problems and finds a solution almost immediately. She handles conflicts within the pack without force or needing to use her Alpha rights. She deals with the males within our pack with ease even the rudest wolf, like Fenrir. He challenged her everyday. He was a son of an Alpha, but not the first born so he wouldn't be the Alpha of his father pack. When the Alpha council and Mages sought out pack memebers for Silver, they allowed Alpha's to present their picks. Some members of packs voluntered while others were forced to join, or else me a rogue.
Rogue wolves never made it far in life though. So honestly their options were go or die. Fenrir's father put him up to join without hesitation. Being raised by an Alpha, while appeasing his mother the Luna. It was hard for him to accept that he again wouldn't be the Alpha. That was until the council and Mages said Silver needed to find her mate, that way they could lead the pack while she stepped into the role of Luna. Silver never complained about their plan for her, the way they wanted to alter her fate. I knew that it bugged her, she had been losing her control at night allowing Deva to take the reigns. Deva had run with Kolby a few times in the past few weeks, she mentioned the disrespect they felt. Deva would complain about the haste the council was placing on her to find or choose her mate. She'd explain how she wanted to be able to find her other half. That she wanted to feel complete.
Kolby understood, he too wanted to find his other half at whatever cost. A mate to wolves was a sacred thing, the Moon Goddess herself set up each individual match, making sure we fit like a puzzle piece. Forcing our wolves to accept and mark another was like denying part of ourselves. I had always said regardless of whom my mate was I would mark them the minute I knew. Kolby agreed, but also would mention getting to know them was important as well. I hated how reasonable he was. We continued to pace as we waited, grumbling. I could sense Kolby trying to push to the surface to calm me, but I wanted to be the one to greet Silver to make sure she was ok. It was only fair. Kolby got to calm down Deva and listen to her, I should be able to do the same for Silver.
As we continued to pace I could hear footsteps in the distance. I shifted in case it wasn't a packmate. Then the wind changed direction, just like that I felt a sense of calm wash over me as I caught her scent. I sat on the ground next to the front door and watched as she approached jogging. Her smile was infectious as she saw me. She stopped her jog when she was about 10 feet away from the door. I looked at her, she looked down at me. In her human form she had beautiful honey eyes. I sighed at her, she laughed.
"I have to say it man." Kolby started to say, but before the words entered my thoughts I felt it. She was beautiful. Sweat, smuged eyeliner, and incredible smile. "Silver get hotter or something overnight?" Kolby was laughing, wagging his tail and yipping in my head. His rustic fur shimmering with enthusiasm. Then I realized, she HAD changed overnight. Her sweats hung lowrer on her hips, she lost weight. She had a six pack now, and her bust even looked larger. Her muscles were toned and her skin looked more olive then its usual slightly tanned skin. She had a tattoo on her hip that ressembled a moon phase chart. Her eyes were their usual honey, but there were streaks of red in them. Silver broke my stare with a snap of her fingers.
"What the fu*k Andrew? Is there something wrong?" She asked me, a look of fear and anger flashing across her face. I went to open my mouth, but words failed me. "This isn't possible, right Kolby?" I turned to my Wolf, hoping for advice. He pushed forward. I felt my dark brown eyes turn to a light brown. "Kolby?" Silver stared at us. "Sil, darling. We're sorry for staring, but are you aware your exhibiting changes in your body? Like some very defining changes?" Silver looked over her body and gasped, "What is going on?" She looked at us, fear apparent on her face.
"We'll I believe you have to ask Alpha Jacobs for that information..." Kolby was cut off when Silver noticed the tattoo and screamed. Our blood boiled at her fear, we couldn't help though. Neither of us understood. "Silver, Shift. NOW" Kolby demanded. Silver glared at us for half a second then shifted, giving Deva control. Deva was larger than ever, her blue hues were more defined. Her eyes were lit with a fire we had never seen before. The tips of her ears were black, they had never been black before. Her wolf also had a blackish grey mark across her left eye too. Almost like she had been scratched there, but never had been.
Deva reached out for us, "Kolby? Andrew?... I'm different too aren't I?" Her voice was kind of faultering in it's usual strength. We nodded our head a "yes". She growled and started pacing.
