Chapter 2

The Omega threw herself on the bed, scrolling her cell phone screen—the one that Anna had bought her on her birthday—and found that her father had texted that her grandmother had to be rushed to the hospital because her lung complications had reappeared a few hours ago.

Panicking, Erika dialed her father's phone number. After several times her cellphone made a ringing sound, her father finally picked up,

"Hello. Dad? How is Granny doing now?"

"Oh, Erika," she heard her father's voice hoarse as if she had been crying, "She's fine. She was in critical condition earlier, but luckily Isha found her and called me and your Eomma," Erika almost felt tears in her eyes knowing his father's story. "You're home from college? How's your college?"

Erika gripped her cell phone tightly, "College went well. Dad, I still got some money on my account. I will immediately send them to you."

"You don't have to do that, Erika. You should have saved the money for the rent for the apartment and the equipment for your assignment there," her father advised. "You still have your monthly scholarship money this month, right? Use it well, don't think about us here. Your responsible over there is just to study well, you understand?"

"Yes. I understand," Erika said, even though she knew that she would still send her father money in the end. "I send my regards to Mom, Davi, Isha and Granny. Say that I love them."

"We love you too, Erika. Take care of your health, okay?"

"Take care of your health too," Erika said. Mumble in her head, It’s gonna be a long night with deepest thinking once again in her life

“Erika, you there?”

The girl jumping on the worry sound of her dad, she doesn’t remember that they are still on calls. Hearing her grandmother rushed to hospital and she needs to get another money soon was enough to make her feeling anxious.

“Oh, yeah, then how's your heat this month? Don't forget to take your pills," his father reminded her despite not hearing any answer of his daughter before.

Erika patted her forehead and looked at the calendar hanging on the wall. She had almost forgotten that her heat would be arriving in a week and she had forgotten to buy a heat control pill. Since she was an Omega, she had to regularly buy heat control pills. It is common knowledge that Omega's heat can stimulate unwanted Alpha. Erika just faked a laugh, making her father not worry about her, "Of course, Dad. I've bought a supply of pills for this month. Thanks for reminding me."

“Alright. I am sorry dad, I have to do my assignment now. I am gonna call you in anytime soon, kay?”

The moment she hang up the phone, she is staring blankly at the wall of her apartment thinking back again how hard her life is. Not to regret that, but to remind her how this hard journey will leads her to rainbow after.

Erika looked back at the date on her calendar. In a week the heat will arrive and she must immediately buy heat control pills. Her job as a nightclub host force her to be careful every time she enters her heat period. A co-worker at the club once became pregnant due to having s*x with an Alpha when her heat suddenly appeared unexpectedly. "Maybe I'll buy some pills before I leave for work," Erika muttered to herself.

She pulled up a chair and picked up her book on the shelf, continue to read NIC, 7th edition. Her must read book as a future nurse. Becoming a nurse has always been Erika's dream since childhood. One of them is Anna, Erika's first friend whom she met during college orientation. A pale skinned Omega that came from one of the most respected packs in the city.

None of Erika's friends knew what the girl's life was like. They only know that Erika is a student from out of town who is blessed with a genius brain so that she gets a full scholarship at the university.

The girl is so closed with her personal life. She always said no when her college friends wanted to visit her house in the village. It's not that Erika is embarrassed, but that she doesn't think she'll always be friends with the billionaire kids in this town.

Erika massaged her own forehead, suddenly the glimpse of her grandmother and her family in the village came back as a picture among the books she was reading. looks like the her focus had already left the girl's side since a few minutes ago.

If it was like this, she should close her eyes for a moment. Her tiny body felt weak, Erika finally decided to lean her head on the study table. Hoping to regain the lost focus when she opened her eyes later.

The pretty girl will be going to work in next three hours. And losing focus at work will only get her in trouble.

Hopefully there won't be any annoying customers tonight, Erika muttered in her sleep.
