Elara’s POV
The silence in Alexander’s bedroom felt alive.
I lay on my side, facing the wall, trying to breathe normally. His black shirt was soft against my skin, but it only made me more aware that I was in his bed, wearing his clothes, completely at his mercy. I could feel the heat radiating from his body even though he wasn’t touching me.
Alexander lay on his back on top of the covers, one arm resting behind his head. I could sense him watching me, even in the dark.
“You’re not sleeping,” he said quietly. His deep voice sent a shiver down my spine.
“I’m… adjusting,” I whispered.
He shifted slightly. The mattress dipped as he turned toward me. “Turn around, Elara. Look at me.”
I hesitated for a second before rolling over. Our faces were only a foot apart in the the dim light his sharp features looked even more intense. His eyes studied me with that same unnerving focus.
“Are you afraid of me?” he asked.
I thought about lying, but remembered his rule. “A little,” I admitted. “I don’t know you and I just moved into a stranger’s house… into his bed.”
His lips curved into a faint, dangerous smile. “Honesty is good. You’ll be rewarded for it.”
He reached out slowly and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. The gentle touch sent electricity racing across my skin my n*****s tightened against the soft fabric of his shirt.
“I won’t force myself on you,” he continued, voice low. “But I also won’t pretend I don’t want you. I’ve wanted you for a very long time.”
My breath caught. “How long?”
“Longer than you can imagine.”
The way he said it made my thighs press together heat pooled low in my belly, I was getting wet just from lying next to him. It was humiliating how strongly my body reacted to this man.
Alexander’s gaze dropped to my lips, then lower, tracing the way his shirt clung to my breasts. “You’re beautiful when you’re nervous.”
I swallowed hard. “This is all happening so fast.”
“It’s been slow for me,” he murmured. “Three years of waiting. I can be patient a little longer.”
He didn’t touch me beyond that one strand of hair, but the air between us felt thick with tension. I could smell his cologne, feel the warmth of his body, sense the raw power he was holding back.
After a long moment, he spoke again. “There will be rules, Elara I expect obedience in return, I will protect you, provide for you, and give you pleasure you’ve never imagined. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” I whispered.
“Good girl.”
Those two words again. They shouldn’t affect me so much, but they did. A fresh wave of arousal washed through me. I shifted uncomfortably, trying to ease the ache between my legs.
Alexander noticed. Of course he did.
“Are you wet right now?” he asked bluntly.
My face burned with embarrassment. I couldn’t bring myself to answer.
He leaned closer. “When I ask you a question, I expect an answer.”
“…Yes,” I admitted, voice barely audible.
His eyes darkened with satisfaction. “Good. I want you like that needy aware of me. But I won’t touch you tonight. Not yet.”
I didn’t know whether to feel relieved or disappointed.
He reached out and rested his hand on my hip over the shirt, nothing more but it felt possessive. “Sleep, Elara. You’re safe now tomorrow I’ll show you the library and we’ll begin.”
Begin what? I wanted to ask, but I already knew the answer.
I closed my eyes, trying to ignore the heavy presence of the powerful man beside me. His hand stayed on my hip the entire time, a constant reminder of who I belonged to now.
Sleep came slowly, filled with confusing dreams of steel-gray eyes, strong hands, and dark promises whispered against my skin.
When I woke briefly in the middle of the night, Alexander was still awake, watching me in the darkness.
And for the first time, I wondered if I had just made the best or worst decision of my life.
The next morning, sunlight streamed through the large windows. Alexander was already up, dressed in a crisp black shirt and pants that made him look like sin wrapped in luxury.
“Shower and come downstairs,” he said. “I’ve laid out clothes for you. After breakfast, I’ll show you your new responsibilities.”
Then he left me alone to get ready.
When I stepped into the bathroom, I found a beautiful outfit waiting; a fitted cream blouse and a short black skirt, no bra, no panties . The message was clear.
I dressed with trembling fingers, feeling exposed even before leaving the room. The skirt barely covered the tops of my thighs. Every movement reminded me I was bare underneath.
When I finally walked downstairs, Alexander was waiting at the dining table His eyes swept over me slowly, possessively.
“Turn for me,” he commanded softly.
I did a slow turn. I could feel his gaze burning into my skin.
“Perfect,” he murmured. “Come eat. Then I’ll show you the library where you’ll be spending a lot of your time.”
As I sat down across from him, I realized something with startling clarity:
This was no longer just an escape from my old problems.
I had willingly walked into a completely new kind of danger.
One that made my body sing and my heart race with both fear and forbidden excitement.
