**Chapter 13: The Prophecy Revealed**

1289 Words
The days after the unexpected visit from Grandma Evelyn had been filled with a mix of awe and confusion. The news that Layla was carrying five pups—five pups from their powerful bond—had taken over every part of their thoughts, but there was more to come. It wasn’t just the pregnancy that had set their world spinning; it was the ancient prophecy and the deep connections that lay beneath it all. They had barely begun to process it all when another revelation came to light. It was early in the morning when Layla’s mother, Selene, and her grandmother, Marla, arrived at the pack house. Both women had been unusually quiet, their faces serious as they walked into the room where Layla and Owen had been discussing their next steps. “Mom? Grandma?” Layla called, surprised to see them at the pack house, knowing they had just come off a difficult conversation with the Alpha's family. “Layla,” Selene said softly, walking over to her daughter and embracing her. “We’ve had dreams. Dreams that led us here.” Marla, her grandmother, nodded solemnly. “I’ve had a vision, just like Grandma Evelyn did,” she explained, her eyes scanning the room, making sure no one else was listening. “The Goddess showed me something important. She showed me the safety of your pups, Layla, and the importance of the bond you share with Owen.” Owen stood silent for a moment, his mind racing. How could Layla’s mother and grandmother know of the pups? He had barely wrapped his mind around it himself. “How do you know about this?” Owen asked, stepping closer to the women. “We haven’t told anyone but my grandmother, my Beta, and the pack doctor. How did you know?” Selene looked at him with calm eyes. “The Goddess speaks to those she trusts, Owen. And sometimes she does so in dreams. Layla’s grandmother and I are both blessed with her visions.” Marla nodded in agreement. “I saw the future, Owen. You and Layla are connected, and the pups you carry together will be the key to an era of peace for the pack. But the prophecy is not just about you two—it involves the Alpha as well.” Layla’s eyes widened. She looked at Owen, seeing the confusion mirrored in his expression. “What does that mean?” she asked softly. “The Alpha is not just a leader,” Marla continued. “He is the White Wolf too. I saw him in my dreams—Owen, your wolf is pure, the same as Layla’s. The prophecy spoke of two white wolves who would come together to lead not just this pack, but the wolves of the old clans. Together, you two will ensure the survival of the pack through an era of peace and strength.” Owen felt his breath catch in his throat as the full scope of their fates settled on him. He had always felt something special about his bond with Layla, but hearing it confirmed through his grandmother’s dreams and now Layla’s family left him stunned. This was bigger than either of them had anticipated. “We didn’t know,” Owen admitted, glancing at Layla. “The pack doesn’t even know about this. We never did the ‘showing of wolves’ ceremony. We didn’t have the chance.” Selene nodded, a look of understanding in her eyes. “That was a choice you made, Owen, and it’s been a difficult one. But you’ve done what needed to be done. The pack has watched you, and they know you’re a strong leader. But there’s more to your story that needs to unfold.” Layla’s grandmother, Marla, spoke again. “This prophecy is bigger than just you two, my dear. It’s about the balance of the pack and the world you will create. Your pups will have the strength to lead this pack in ways no other leaders have before. But you must protect them—and each other—through this transition.” Owen’s heart was pounding. He had always known there was something extraordinary about his bond with Layla, but now the weight of their destiny was sinking in. “We can’t let anyone know about the pups yet,” Layla said, her voice soft but firm. “The pack needs to believe that nothing has changed. We need to protect this—our family—until it’s time.” Selene and Marla exchanged a look, one that said more than words could convey. They understood. “We won’t tell anyone,” Marla said. “But you must be careful. The next few months will be difficult for you both. The prophecy is meant to be fulfilled, but you cannot let the pack know yet.” The weight of the decision was heavy, but Owen and Layla agreed. They would keep the secret to themselves—only the Alpha’s trusted circle and Layla’s mother and grandmother knew of the future. It was a silent pact that would protect the pups, but also their connection. They would continue to live separately, as though nothing had changed, until the pups were three months old. Then, and only then, would they return to the pack house as a united family. **Later that day, the tension in the pack house was palpable.** The whispers had already started among the pack members. The fact that Owen and Layla had been absent from certain activities raised questions. The pack was beginning to notice that something was wrong. The absence of the Luna and Alpha together wasn’t going unnoticed. The rumors began to swell, as some of the older members wondered if a rift had formed between them. Meanwhile, Layla’s mother and grandmother kept their distance, knowing the importance of secrecy. They remained in the background, their eyes ever watchful for signs that the prophecy might be unfolding as it was meant to. --- **Back at the pack house, drama continued to stir.** The pack’s great aunts, especially the more meddling members of the council, kept encouraging Owen’s mother to get more involved. They knew something was going on between the Luna and the Alpha, and they wanted to see it all unravel. They didn’t understand the bond Owen and Layla shared, and they certainly didn’t realize the impact their interference was having on the Alpha’s relationship with his mother. Owen’s mother, although well-meaning, found herself torn between family loyalty and her growing concerns for Layla. But what she didn’t realize was how much the tension was eroding her relationship with her son. The more the great aunts whispered in her ear, the further she pulled away from Owen, not seeing how much their strong bond as mother and son was being quietly fractured. **The pack doctor, Beta Marcus, and his wife, along with Owen’s grandmother, were the only ones who truly understood what was happening.** They were the ones supporting Owen and Layla in silence, knowing the importance of keeping the secret for the sake of the prophecy. And so, for the next eight months, Owen and Layla would continue to live apart, hiding the truth about the Luna’s pregnancy from the pack, until the time was right. But even as they kept their secret, Owen felt the weight of the pack’s growing unease, the whispers of their relationship's fracture becoming louder. The challenges ahead weren’t just about protecting the future pups—they were about keeping the strength of their bond intact while navigating the growing tensions within the pack. The storm was coming, and Owen and Layla had to prepare. They had no choice but to weather it together. ---
