Lyras's POV
I tiptoed to the door and opened the door slowly. The door creaked open, and I held my breath, hoping no one heard the sound of the door.
I looked back at the room where I had spent eighteen years of my life with my eyes filled with tears. But my mind is made up, I'm leaving, and nothing will ever stop me.
I made sure to leave everything behind. My clothes and every belonging. The only thing I took was my bracelet. It's midnight, and if I don't leave now, I might get caught.
I drew in sharp breaths, hoping to gather some strength. I shut my eyes and opened it again. I walked down the stairs slowly, careful not to make any sound with my shoes in my hand.
As soon as I got outside the gate, I put on my shoe and ran off. I don't know how I'm going to survive, but I will try. I took some money with me. It was all I have been able to save these eighteen years of my life.
I finally made it to the pack gate. I took a final look at the pack and exhaled sharply. With one step, I crossed over to the other side, leaving the territory of Thornhart forever.
I grew tired as time went by, but I couldn't walk. Dawn was fast approaching, so I needed to walk as far as possible. I can't go through all this trouble for nothing.
They might notice I'm gone and come after me, and that is something I will not allow to happen. I'm never going back to that place where I was humiliated and treated like I was nothing.
My eyes flickered with excitement as soon as I saw a small cabin from afar. This shows that another pack is close by, I can only hope there's no one living at the cabin.
I will stay there while I think of what to do with my life. I made it to the cabin, and fortunately for me, it was empty.
I crumbled on the bed, not minding the dust it had gathered. I reckon that it has been years people lived here. All the better, it means no one will come here. I struggled to keep my eyes open, but I soon dozed off.
When I opened my eyes, the day was very clear, and the sun was out shining. My throat felt dry, and my vision became blurry. I stood up and made way outside the cabin.
Using the last amount of strength in me. I walked away from the cabin, hoping to find a pack hoping to find some food and water to buy.
I jumped up with joy as soon I saw some people gathered under a tree. There were children playing and some men were training with swords. I was right. There was a pack nearby.
I found a market and got so many things, including food and water. I headed back to the cabin, dragging my feet along.
I made it there and munched down the food I got immediately. I drank some water and felt alive. My body ached, but it was nothing compared to the ache in my heart.
I jumped up, and there was no use crying over spilt milk. I need to find a lake where I can draw water and clean my new home.
******
It's been three weeks since I left the Thornton pack and moved to this cabin. I ended up finding a lake the next day I arrived, and I was able to clean the entire cabin, which took me three days of hard work.
I have also been going to the pack nearby to get food and also mingle with people. I make sure not to hang around for too long to avoid being asked questions.
My money is almost finished, and I would have to get a job so I can survive. I also heard from the children of that pack that there was a human town not too far away.
It was time for me to head over to the nearby pack for my evening pack. It's one way I have not died from boredom.
I felt foggy all of a sudden and almost fell on the floor. I have been feeling this way for some days now, and I have no idea why.
“It must be something I ate,” I convinced myself and headed to the pack.
As soon as I arrived at the pack. I felt weak and numb. I practically dragged myself here. I felt dizzy and nauseous, and I couldn't help but throw up.
“Are you okay?” I heard a woman's voice and looked up at her. She was an old woman, and I quickly hid my face away from her. I have to be careful, I can't take foolish risk.
“Let me see, I am the pack doctor here.” She said and took my wrist.
“I can feel multiple heartbeat and pulses. You are a pregnant child.” The old woman said, and my eyes widened.
“What!” I exclaimed in shock.
The old woman's words echoed in my head as I stormed through the woods. There's no way I'm carrying Kael's child. I can't believe that one night resulted in this. I shook my head in disbelief, tears pouring down my eyes.
“I can't stay here any longer. I have to mask my scent and go somewhere far away. I'm carrying the alpha's child, and he will definitely come to find me.” I panicked as I spoke.
“But where?” I soliloquied thinking of where to hide myself.
“Aahhh… The human town…” I gasped.
