DAISY Daisy stretched her arms above her head and tried to turn over in the cot, only to discover it had turned into a wobbling hammock while she slept. Shaking her head, she rolled her eyes and remembered that linear time had no meaning in Tausi. She could no longer think in terms of day and night, or sleeping and waking. She remembered the stories she’d read about out-of-body and near-death experiences: floating figures, wordless encounters. Tausi was like that. She opened her eyes to the familiar blue haze and intertwined her fingers with the loosely woven ropes fashioned from the island’s blue-tinted bamboo.
