I watch Kaly finish off her seventh drink of the night. We’ve only been at a tarven by the marketplace for less than an hour but she was already drinking as if we’ve been here all night. Thorne and I stuck close to her. He had bought me a drink that I haven’t finished yet. It wasn’t that I was lightweight and couldn’t handle my liquor but these tankards that the taverns use were as big as my face.  Thorne didn’t have the same problem and was more or less in the same number of drinks as his cousin. “Rose, you alright?” I cradle my drink and stare up at him. “I’m good.” “I hope… I didn’t scare you. I hate that you had to see that.” He pauses and takes another drink from his tankard. “Sometimes, my emotions get the best of me. Kaly is like my little sister and I acted without thinking.”
