Chapter four - Job offers

Adam's POV:

I plan to put the job offer I have in my company online. I need someone in Alyssa's place. Her absence is noticeable. I'm sure someone new will come. My team and I did the PR boxes. They look good. I liked the design. Cassie made a list of all the creators who will receive them. I expect their reviews. I never thought that I would watch videos online to see my products. I didn't want my company to be an online figure. Well, things have changed. I should become modern. We created social media accounts for the company. We only linked our website, but we have a few thousand followers. We already have loyal customers. A few more will be something positive. I would love that. The sales slightly increased. I'm waiting for more reviews. One thing I have learned is that you shouldn't pressure people. Otherwise, they won't do the job you want them to. I won't say that I don't have any sales. It's the opposite. A few thousand people shop from us every month. When we make sales, we double the number of customers. It's great. I'm happy to have such a company. This is why so many people work here. All the sales we make are for making new products and salaries. I'm glad I found people who are so creative and passionate about this. It's not easy to find someone like this. Such a person should work for me in Alyssa's place. I hope that I will find them quickly because I need them.

I put the job offer online yesterday. I have only one candidate. The interview might be next week. I want to see if we'll have more candidates. If the one we have is not our person, we should look for someone else. I know what I'm looking for. I have put the requirements in the ad. I can wait a bit more. I saw another review of our products. This creator has around ten million followers on all their social media. That can help us. I'm glad that they are saying something positive.

Currently, I'm at my office. I'll have another meeting. We decided to do PR every few months. It will be good to promote our products. I already have the list of people who will receive this. I have checked the new designs. They look great. I love them. I have a few emails about people wanting collaborations or partnerships with my company. I haven't agreed or denied it. After I read my documentation, I went to the room for meetings. My team was already there. It's better if we start soon. I have other things to do.

- I need new ideas. What do you have for me?

- We can invent something new. It could be like a second drop of one of our collections. - Annie said

- Like a new design?

- Yes. We have a few designs if you want to check them out.

- I will. Which collection did you choose?

- Drinkware. We asked on our social media accounts which collection they wanted to see in new colors. That was a highly requested one. We should do it.

- I'm not sure if people should decide what we do.

- Since we started the social media accounts, most new sales have been from teens and young adults.

- I see. If this raises the sales, we can do another collection. Is there something else?

- We have seen that many people pack orders in videos. - Ben said

- No one has time for this.

- Think about it.

- This is my business, not a social media game. I should've moved to something else.

- Don't give up. We'll find a solution. The good news is that the sales are going up.

- I'll check the designs you have. Is there a sale on a specific product or collection?

- It depends on people's preferences, sir.

- What happened with Alyssa's place? We need help. - Cassie said

- I have uploaded the job offer online. We have one candidate. I'll wait to see if more people will get interested.

- We need someone at her place.

- I know. I'll take care of this. I will do the interviews.

- Sir, are you sure? Kelsey usually takes them.

- I know, but this time, it will be me.

- I'm sure you will hire someone good enough.

- It depends on the candidates.

- Well, they can't be that bad. Someone good will come.

- If I knew someone, it would've been better.

- Sometimes, it's better if friends are not involved.

After the meeting, I went to finish more work. I saw another application for the job offer. It was from someone named Jasmine Anderson. I don't know any of the candidates. Well, I plan to interview everyone. I checked her application. She has no experience in this area. Then why is she applying here? That woke up my interest. I went to lunch with Carla. I would like to hear what she will say about this. I will invite this girl for an interview. I want to know why she applied. The chances of hiring her are low, but she might surprise me. You never know.

- Thank you for the lunch, boss.

- You don't have to call me like that. You can be my mom. - I said, and we laughed

- But you are higher in the hierarchy than me.

- I worked a lot for this.

- Is there anything new?

- I received another job application. This was an interesting one.

- What do you mean?

- I received one from a woman. She has no experience in this area.

- Why did she send it?

- I have no idea. It woke up my interest.

- Maybe she is pretty.

- So?

- Adam, you will be in your thirties in two years. Stop putting your job as a priority. You are already successful. You don't need to prove yourself to anyone.

- I'm not doing it because of that. I like my job.

- I hope that someone will get in your head. You deserve it.

- You sound like my mom.

- Your mom is not wrong. Don't you want to have a family and kids?

- Yes, but I don't need to rush.

- Adam, how long will you wait? Until you get in the fifties? No one will want you then.

- I don't mind. I will still have my job.

- Adam! Don't make me call your mom.

- Don't forget that you have a job because you two are friends.

Mom and Carla met at one course. I forgot what it was. They liked each other and started hanging out. I saw Carla at home. Working for my dad wasn't her thing, so I took her with me. Things went well. In the afternoon, I continued with my work. There was another job application. John Smith. Do you know how many people have that name? This doesn't matter. I had better finish my work for today. I want to go home early.

- Sir, someone wants to see you. - Kelsey said

- Ok, let them come in.

- Hey, Adam.

- Lesley? What are you doing here?

- Miss, do you want coffee or anything?

- No, thanks.

- I'll leave you alone. - Kelsey said and left

- Why are you here? I thought I was clear the last time. Maybe I should say from the beginning.

- You should give it a chance.

- I don't have time for this. Next time, I'll forbid you to come here.

- Why? I didn't do anything. Can't I come to visit you?

- No. I want to focus on my work. I'll have a serious conversation with my mom.

- She didn't send me here.

- Do you want us to go this evening? I don't have plans.

I'll have a serious conversation with my mom. She made this mess. She will fix it. I don't want to see this girl anymore. Mom thought making me go out with someone would be a good idea. She called one of her friends. The woman has a daughter. I can't stand her. She is so annoying and doesn't value personal space. I never gave her my phone number, but she knows where I work. When I was at home, I called my mom. I don't care what she will do, but I want this girl away from me. I don't have time for this.

- Hey, honey. Do you need something?

- Lesley came today.

- Oh.

- Yes, oh. Fix this!

- How?

- I don't care. You made this mess. Tell your friend that your son doesn't want to see her daughter.

- I can't do that. What will she say?

- The problem is not mine. I told you to stay away from my love life.

- But it's dead. You don't do anything.

- You don't need to care about this. It's my life, ok? I will deal with it.

- Adam, don't be mad.

- But I am. I told you to leave me alone and stop talking with Carla about this.

- I didn't.

I love my mom, but sometimes, her help doesn't help. It's even the opposite. I don't have time for dates and going out. Part of me doesn't want to do it. Let's say that I have other priorities. At least my dad doesn't pressure me about this. He knows what it's like to have a business. I must have learned it from someone. Just because my mom was already pregnant at my age, it doesn't mean that the same thing will happen to me. Our goals are not the same. We want different things. Also, she has everything she needs. I don't know what else she wants from me. I hope that we'll understand each other better.
