For the past six months, I have been visiting Maddy four times a week, bringing her small treats, playing poker, and sharing stories. Every story she tells me about Gwyn has me sitting at the edge of my seat, completely invested and begging for more of the woman whose heart I broke. I know it isn’t fair that I am here, that I am even talking to Maddy as if she is my own mother, but Gwyn won’t answer my calls, hardly shows up at her own apartment and I even got desperate enough to show up at her office but was shown away. The only bit of comfort I have been receiving is this, the little bits of information I get from her mother, the moments her mother feeds me information on what Gwyn is doing and the fact that Gwyn seems to look happy, confident even in herself.
