ADMISSION
PRINCESS
On Friday, I was in my room, lying on my king-size bed, decorated with pink and blue striped thick bed materials. My room is spacious, beautiful, and well-furnished. I was operating my laptop, editing some of my songs, with my headset on, when a message popped up on my screen, indicating that it was a new message from my sss account. I accessed it and found out it was a message from Masters University and JAMB, informing me about my admission. I was so excited that I ran out of my room, climbing down the long stairs, too excited to use the elevator to get to my father's office.
"Excuse me!" I said, almost colliding with one of the maids. "Dad, Dad, where are you? Masters University gave me admission to study medicine!"
His office was already open, so I didn't waste time knocking. He looked at me and adjusted his glasses; my dad has this serious feature, not that he's always angry, just his permanent look. I don't know what my mom saw in his face and married him, but that's not my business. He's not ugly, but if he smiled a bit, just a little, it would look good on him.
"I had to stop immediately and made my intentions clear to him. I got the admission," I said.
"That's good news," he replied. "So, you have to prepare yourself. I'll call an agent to look for a better place for you to live. You're not staying in the hostel."
"But it's compulsory for first-year students," I said.
"I'll deal with it," he said. "The hostel will be inconvenient for you to stay in. I'll give your nanny money to take you out for shopping."
"When will you resume?" he asked in a cranky voice.
"Next month," I replied.
He stamped a paper and said, "You have to know about the necessary documents and things the school needs."
"Okay, sir," I said.
Please help me inform the maids to get me my usual appetizer…what he meant is that he's done with me. Direct dismissal, he could get his appetizer by just a Little sound of his bell.
As I left his office, I mentioned what my father wanted to one of the maids and left for my room. Hours later, I heard my doorbell ringing, and there was my mom.
"Can I come in?" she asked.
"Yes," I replied.
"Oh, my baby, I heard the news. Congratulations, sweetie!" my mom said.
Finally, the words of encouragement I needed. My mom is the opposite of my dad.
"Thank you, but your husband is not happy about the news," I said.
"Hmm, sweetie, you should have known better that your dad is hard to please. But I can tell he's happy. He wanted you to study abroad; he wishes the best for his children," she said.
I looked at her, and she continued, "I know i don't have to tell u a biography about your dad. Well,I'm happy he said that he'll give money for your shopping."
"Mummy, please, can I just go without the maids? I'm not a kid anymore; I don't need a maid to shop for me," I asked.
"The maid won't shop for you; she'll only escort you there and help you carry your stuff," she replied.
"But we are going with Raxus, and I can drive, so I can do that all by myself," I said smiling simpar.
"Shh, no more complaints. I will go with you," she said.
I thought to myself, "She won't go with me; I'd rather go with a maid because she'll be choosing those girly stuff for me."
"And good news, Johnson and Malvern will be flying back to Nigeria next week," she said.
"Wow, wow, really? Johnson and Malvern are my elder brothers. They came before the girls and I'm the last born, like I said earlier. Even though my parents live a modern and foreign lifestyle, it doesn't stop them from having many children. They can't stop doing it until they have many children. Hmm, me, I will have only three kids in the future."
"I'm happy to hear that my brothers are coming back, especially Malvern, my favorite one of all. We are six in total, four girls and two boys."
"So, when is the date?" I asked.
"On Tuesday. Will you postpone the shopping till they arrive, or will we go tomorrow?" she asked.
"I'll wait until they are back," I replied.
"Okay, I have something to take care of, so catch you later," she said, pecking my cheeks.
"O boy, this is so girlish," I thought.
