Adelyn flashed a confident smile and asked Trent's assistant to bring over two horses.
Randal, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke up with a frown, "Why bother, Adelyn? You can't win. If you admit you made a mistake, I'll let it slide."
Adelyn glanced at Randal, realizing how much she had misjudged him over the years. "Randal, I must have been stupid to ever love you."
With a graceful move, she mounted her horse, showing no hesitation.
She looked at the rich kid who had challenged her. "What's wrong? Scared?"
"Scared? Of you? Never!" he shot back.
As soon as the race began, it was clear he had underestimated her.
Adelyn wasn't just competent. She was a skilled rider. Within moments, she had taken the lead. Leaning forward, she urged her horse onward and crossed the finish line with ease.
The rich kid, meanwhile, had lost control of his horse. It circled wildly, and he was left clinging on for dear life, shouting for help.
It wasn't until the staff stepped in that the horse was calmed.
Adelyn dismounted, her hair cascading like a waterfall, catching the sunlight. She looked radiant and composed.
Randal watched, stunned. He had never realized how incredible she was.
But he quickly pushed the thought aside, convincing himself it was just luck.
He sincerely saw Adelyn as a clueless country girl.
Adelyn turned to the rich kid. "Time to honor your promise..."
Enraged, he pointed at her. "You... you won't get away with this!"
He lunged at her, but before Randal could react, Trent stepped in. He caught the punch effortlessly and shoved the rich kid to the ground.
"No one causes trouble on my ranch," Trent said coldly.
Randal's friends, intimidated by Trent's presence, stayed silent, not daring to make a move.
Trent's blue eyes were cold as he looked at the group. "The person you just offended is my guest."
His guest? They thought Adelyn was just doing menial work at Starlight Ranch!
Realizing their mistake, they were horrified.
They knew they were in big trouble.
"Apologize to her," Trent demanded.
"We're sorry! We didn't know! It won't happen again!" They were practically groveling.
Adelyn, clearly annoyed, waved them off.
Trent added, "Get out of here now."
"Thank you!" They scrambled to their feet and rushed away.
Trent then turned to Randal. "I don't want to see this kind of behavior again."
Randal felt a surge of discomfort. He glanced between Trent and Adelyn, jealousy bubbling up. "Uncle Trent, you should stay away from Adelyn. She's a gold digger."
"That's not your concern," Trent replied curtly.
Randal's heart twisted with confusion and anger.
Yesterday, Adelyn was just a country girl to him. How had she suddenly become so different and important?
Doubt began to gnaw at him.

Once everyone had left, Trent turned to Adelyn. "I'm sorry about what happened."
Adelyn shrugged. Maybe Randal was still stuck in their divorce, but she had moved on. "No worries. Here's the rough draft I just finished. I'll send you the detailed plans tomorrow."
"There's no rush," Trent replied, appreciating her determination.
"Trust me. I can do it."
Adelyn smiled and left, eager to get to work. She spent the entire night finalizing the ranch's design and sent it to Trent before finally collapsing into bed.
Later, Trent stepped out of the shower with a towel wrapped around his waist, revealing his strong build—broad shoulders, defined muscles, and a commanding presence.
He glanced at his phone and reviewed Adelyn's plans, his blue eyes showing a hint of admiration.
At the hospital...
Randal threw the pregnancy test report down before Brooke, his tone filled with indifference and rage as he said, "Gonna explain?"
As the news went viral, Brooke, the subject of the controversy, undoubtedly had learned it by now.
She clutched at Randal's clothes, tears shimmering in her eyes. She pleaded, "You have to believe me, Randie! Adelyn made this up to drive us apart!"
"Us? Have we ever been an 'us'?" Randal's demeanor was frigid, and his tone was even chillier.
Brooke, pale and trembling, insisted, "Randie, you have to believe me. The baby really is yours!"
Randal brushed her hand away. "I've sent the tissues from your abortion for testing."
Brooke's eyes widened in shock at his words!
Seeing her reaction, Randal knew there was no need for a second test.
"If you dare deceive me, you should be prepared for the consequences," he stated in an icy tone before turning to leave.
Brooke's shoulders trembled as her whole body went limp, slumping on the bed as if she had lost her soul.
She had chosen the most confidential paternity testing service in Austin. How could the report have leaked?
She couldn't fathom it. If it really was Adelyn's doing, how could she possibly have managed it?
But she could no longer concern herself with these thoughts now!
After her family's bankruptcy, it was only through Randal that she managed to live comfortably and secure her place in high society!
She needed to secure a backup plan!
In a panic, she called her mother. "Mom, please ask Godfather to help me with something!"
