We depart the home of Wegilia and Rigalio the next morning. Our journey takes us deeper into the woods. From there, we come up to a fork in the road. One direction ventures towards the mountains and one deeper into the forest.
“Anybody getting a read on which way?” Maximus asks. No one is saying a thing.
‘Are you going to ignore me?’ Zie asks as she walks around me. She reappeared after we left the cottage. I was thinking that she had done her good deed, making it to the gates of heaven. But no, she is back. I need her help for as long as I have her.
