Time for the truth

1978 Words
Dalia Maximus has held it all together well since I’ve met him. But when he saw he almost marked me. He seemed so upset with himself. The thing is, I don’t think it was Beast. We check out of the hospital and end up sitting outside on the back patio eating a hearty lunch. We were both starving, but I can’t describe seeing the amount of food this man puts away. “So, I can’t train for the rest of today. What else is there?” I say, and his eyes instantly go to my lips. “Uhm spells and herbs, right?” I say nervously, thinking of the other option that is s*x. His eyes flicker from my lips. “Herbs, counter spells…” He clears his throat. “s*x…” I state. “How would it help me get my wolf. Would the s*x be so orgasmic that my wolf surges forward, or would you have to mark me?” I smile, knowing my wolf is influencing my words. “I won’t be marking you. That won’t happen.” He says through gritted teeth. “Okay, I mean that is something for your mate. Not to be taken lightly.” I chuckle to lighten the mood. “I was just joking on the marking part, you know.” I tell him, and I see him calm himself. I won’t lie, though. It kind of stings that he doesn’t want to mark me. He isn’t my mate, but I still feel some kind of way, which is weird. “It’s not you. It’s anyone. I won’t mark anyone. Won’t do that to you or anyone else, ever.” “Oh. I can understand that.” I guess… I mean live forever and look as good as he does? But I also think seeing those around you age and die would suck. I mean I’m part vampire, so we live forever unless someone actually kills us. “So, what did you need to tell me?” I ask, trying to change the subject and my saddened attitude. “I will just come out and say it.” He begins. “When I come close to marking someone, I need to take a break. Go away for a while to sooth that side.” “Wait, you’re supposed to protect me. Be here with me.” I tell him, trying not to sound so needy. But I am. I need him around to feel comfortable. To feel my true self. Whatever the hell that is. Like I haven’t had my bad headaches with him around, so he must be good for me. “I know, I’ll have some men I trust here. Watch you while I’m away.” “For how long?” I frown. “A few days, weeks, maybe? I’m not sure.” He won’t look me in the eyes. “This is bullshit. You’re lying. I can feel it?” I’ve never been able to feel like this before. Something inside me is telling me he is trying to run. He is scared. This huge man is scared. “What? No, I… I have to-” “No.” I say simply. “No?” He repeats, looking at me with an incredulous expression. “No. You are trying to run. I don’t know why. But I won’t accept it.” I look him directly in the eyes. “Dalia…” He says in that sexy way he does trying to warn me. I love his warnings. They all end with him pinning me to a tree or a wall. “Maximus…we have been here before. It never ends with you winning. You are not leaving me here to do this without you. For some reason, you are the key to my wolf. It’s almost like she thinks you are our mate.” I laugh as he goes quiet. Then it dawns on me. I wait for him to argue I’m wrong. But he remains quiet. “Tell me I’m lying.” I demand. “Dalia- listen…” He pauses. “Wait is that why Elder CeCe said we should have s*x?” He remains quiet. “Oh, my goddess! I have a boyfriend and you sit there and say nothing! You have known for how long!” “It’s not that simple. It’s complicated…” He tries to explain. “I have a spell on me that I’m sure is keeping me from knowing this. You knew and you decided not to tell me. You repeatedly left here. Probably off f*****g everyone you saw just to escape me!” I stand yelling as he remains seated. His jaw clenched as his hands try and reach for me. “No, I haven’t been with anyone.” He begins. “It’s…” “What? Am I not good enough for you? If so reject me. Reject me right f*****g now Maximus!” I yell. “No. I have to help you get your wolf…” He grunts. “Oh, and then you dump me? Wow, thank you so much! Maximus, you really are the perfect gentleman they all say you are! To hell with this! I don’t need your pity bond. f**k you!” I start walking away. I feel him close behind me. “Leave me alone Maximus. It’s what you want to do anyway.” “Damn it Dalia, will you stop.” I feel him reach for me and I use my vamp speed to take off. I move even faster than usual. Probably with some help from my wolf. I cross the field resorting to my favorite place. The cool darkness of the forest. I can hear him calling me as he charges after me. I don’t need his pity. If he doesn’t want me then fine. I don’t need him. I’ll figure out this whole damn spell on my own. I keep repeating this to myself as my eyes fill blurring my vision. I’m not going to shed a tear for him. I have my sister and that will be enough for me. So, what if my mom obviously lied to me and my dad used me in a ploy to take the crown as vampire king. I don’t need Maximus and I don’t need anyone. I try and convince myself but I feel this dull ache inside. I’m sure it’s from my wolf. ‘Zuri, I know you can’t respond but he has made it clear. He is only here to help us then leave us. Like everyone else has.’ I push harder into the forest as his sound of his massive beast begins to fade. Coolness hits my face as tears stream freely. Once again someone gave up on me. I pause leaning against a large tree trying to catch my breath through the hollow ache in my chest. It hurts, that dull pain in the center of my chest as I rub it for relief that doesn’t happen. Instantly I’m in a bear hug being held close to his chest. Maximus. Beast growls with anger. Not to scare me but to show me how wrong I am. ‘He has things he needs to tell you but never doubt our feelings.’ Beast grunts as his eyes flash from black to golden. The gold swirls almost hypnotizing. A deeper growl rips from his chest. But it doesn’t scare me. It calms my erratic heart. He leans in taking my lips and nips at my bottom lip. I flinch as I taste blood. He sucks my bottom lip taking the blood moaning as if I am his favorite meal. I pull him closer sliding my tongue into his mouth. He pulls me closer against him. This kiss quenches my every desire. Even those I didn’t know I had. Then he pulls away. We stare at each other as he says nothing. “What is your name?” I ask and he looks as though he can’t understand me. ‘Zuri, you have to reach him.’ I tell my wolf. ‘What is your name.’ Zuri pulls forward straining against the curse. ‘Zion.’ The deepest voice I have ever heard speaks and then he is gone. The dark brown eyes of Maximus appear. He looks around confused and breathing heavy. He instantly checks my neck for marks. “Maximus I’m fine.” I whisper breathlessly. I take his hand holding it to my chest. To feel my heartbeat. “Look at me. Feel my heart. I’m fine.” Once he hears my calming heartbeat he calms a bit. “What happened? Did he…” He begins with concern. “I’m fine. I spoke with Beast and then I met your wolf. His name is Zion.” I smile. “He spoke to you?” He asks shocked. “He has never spoken to me or anyone else?” “Well, he spoke to Zuri technically. But he told us his name. Then he was gone.” I peer up at him with so many questions. “I don’t want you talking to him. He is very dangerous.” He warns me. “He is a part of you!” I reply. “Well then, I am dangerous. I don’t want you hurt too.” “Too?” I ask. “What happened to you?” “Doesn’t matter. I’m dangerous. To all who love me. To all around me. Dangerous. I will not let anything happen to you Dalia.” He tells me. “I won’t leave you.” I stand firmly. “You will. You have to. It may cost you everything.” He grunts. “Do you want me?” I ask as I see his breathing stagger. His eyes seem to scan over every part of my body. “More than humanly possible.” He forced out just above a whisper. “Show me.” I whisper pulling my dress over my head. Tossing it to the ground. His chest begins to rise and fall with such urgency. His fingers twitch as if they need to touch me. “Dalia.” He grunts trying to resist looking at me in my bra and panties. “Do. You. Want. Me.” I ask. He takes a step closer invading the space between us. His nostrils flair smelling my arousal. “You don’t want to play this game with me.” He grunts gripping my neck but not squeezing at all. “What if I do?” I reply as he is so close to my lips if I lick mine, I also lick his. “Or I could always find someone else to f**k me.” I tease. His eyes flash. “You don’t want that. Because anyone who touches you from this moment on, I will personally kill them.” I smile at his possessiveness as his grip tightens. I lick my lips as he captures my tongue between his teeth. Our kisses become desperate as if we are seeing each other for the first time. He grips my hips lifting me and I wrap my legs around his waist. Feeling his hardness pressed against my heat. My back presses against yet another tree. His fingers travel up to my breasts. Pulling them free of the confines of my black lace push up bra. He leans down to capture my n****e. I arch into him as I moans. “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to taste you. These nipples.” I moan as his other hand slides my panties to the side. One finger enters me as I gasp. “I’ve missed the taste of this p***y. I want to taste your juices on my tongue Dalia.” I nod my head feverishly giving him total permission. He chuckles with my n****e in his mouth.
