The swirling tension inside the garden mirrored the tempest Zyro felt building within himself. The presence of Artemis had soothed the group momentarily, but Luna's revelation about the Cosmic Sphere still weighed heavy in the air.
Zyro's gaze shifted to Bron—or Brontes, as he now knew him—who stood stoic, his eyes betraying concern. "What happens now?" Zyro asked, his voice cutting through the stillness. Artemis glanced at the sphere in Luna's hands. "You may have stolen this for noble reasons, daughter, but its presence outside Olympus endangers all realms. The gods will come for it, and you."
"And they won't come alone," Bron growled. "If Hades was willing to send his hellhounds after you, the others won’t hesitate to act—Zeus especially."
Luna stepped forward, her face pale but determined. "Then we’ll stop them. There has to be a way to prove to the gods that humanity deserves to survive. If they see us, see you, Zyro..." Her voice faltered as her gaze met his.
Zyro’s stomach churned. He could feel everyone’s eyes on him. Luna was right, but he wasn’t sure he could carry the weight of what she was asking. Before he could speak, the ground beneath them trembled violently, and the trees around the garden began to bow under an unseen force.
“They’re already here,” Bron said grimly, his fists crackling with electricity.
A rift tore open in the sky above them, spilling golden light into the garden as three figures descended. A booming voice followed, shaking the very air. “Luna! Daughter of Artemis, traitor to the gods! Surrender the Sphere or face judgment.”
Zyro’s breath caught as he recognized Zeus, flanked by Athena and Ares. The god of war’s armor gleamed menacingly, while Athena’s sharp gaze seemed to pierce straight through Zyro.
“Stay behind me,” Bron warned, stepping forward, but Zeus raised a hand, stopping him mid-stride.
“Enough of your interference, Cyclops,” Zeus thundered. His gaze locked onto Zyro, and the weight of it almost brought him to his knees. “You. Boy. Step forward.”
Zyro clenched his fists, forcing himself to meet his father’s eyes. Lightning flickered faintly at his fingertips, a defiant echo of Zeus’s own power.
“I know who you are,” Zeus said, his voice lowering but no less commanding. “And I know what you carry within you. Step aside. The Sphere does not belong to mortals.”
Before Zyro could respond, Luna shouted, “No! You don’t see what this could do—how it could save both our worlds!” She raised the Sphere, and the light within it flared brighter, causing the gods to recoil slightly.
“You dare wield the power of the cosmos against us?” Ares roared, drawing his blade.
Chaos erupted. Bron charged forward, meeting Ares head-on in a clash of raw power, while Athena summoned shimmering shields that pinned Luna in place. Zyro felt the storm within him rise as he watched Luna struggle, her cries of pain igniting something primal.
“Stop!” Zyro shouted, but Zeus raised his hand, summoning a massive bolt of lightning aimed directly at the group.
Instinct took over. Zyro thrust his arms upward, and his own bolt erupted from his palms, colliding with Zeus’s mid-air. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the garden, shattering trees and shaking the earth. For a brief moment, father and son stared at each other, their powers locked in a furious clash. “You dare defy me?” Zeus growled. “I dare protect what’s right!” Zyro shouted back, feeling the storm surge within him, stronger than ever before. The world seemed to hold its breath as their lightning clashed, neither giving ground. And then, with a deafening c***k, the energy exploded, sending both of them hurtling backward.
