606 Words
I was sitting in my office chair, almost finished with the case at hand, until... My phone started ringing. I answered despite the fact that it was an unknown number. I had no fear because I am a member of the police force. They had a voice that was somewhat deep and menacing, so I began asking, "Who is this?" They responded, "Detective, are you finding it difficult to find me?" What...? I kept quiet for a short while. "Have no worries, I'll give you a head start. Felicity Hernandez is the next victim, and I'll give you one day to set up before I perform the murder. Good luck, detective." They dropped the phone---Was that the murderer we are looking for?! Unlike in the previous cases, they warned us ahead of time. Is the killer planning anything else? As soon as I realized we might never have another chance to win, I called Harper and asked him to track down the phone call I had received. I also went to Detective Ferguson about the specifics of this phone conversation. "Are you sure what they're saying is true?" asked detective Ferguson. "We can't risk a civilian's life if we deny it, and this could be a perfect opportunity for us to catch this mysterious killer," I replied. He paused for a moment before responding, "Send policemen to Felicity Hernandez's house, and make sure to pay close attention to the surroundings." I checked Felicity's records and her location. After skimming through it, I left the police department and immediately went to her location. ... Felicity Hernandez works as a 911 operator in the public communication center. When I arrived, numerous soldiers and police officers guarding the perimeter. We couldn't do anything else because we didn't know if what they said was true. There was no way the killer can go through all of this. I went to Harper, who was also at the scene. "Hey, did you find out where the phone call originated?" I inquired. "Yeah, it was made in Brooklyn Creek, which isn't too far from here. I'm guessing the murderer is nearby." He stated. "Send a few people in those areas, it might lead to new clues," I ordered him, and he instantly did what I asked. He's a dependable comrade. I entered Mrs. Hernandez's home and found her sitting on the couch. "Ms. Felicity Hernandez," I called her, and she glanced at me when she heard her name. She is a 30-year-old single woman with curly brown hair, a cute button nose, and prominent brown eyes. based on what her civil record says. "Do you understand why we're here, Ms. Hernandez?" I inquired. "Yes, I understand, the guy with the glasses and coat told me." she's talking about Harper. "Just don't let me die," she responded. "Of course, Ma'am, we won't allow that to happen." I knew she was scared; who wouldn't be? A serial killer is hunting her down. "If anything happens, or if you need anything, just approach any of the soldiers nearby," I reassured her, she nodded and returned to her room. Harper stormed into the house. "What is it, Harper?" I inquired. "I just got word from the cops I dispatched that they didn't find anyone in Brooklyn Creek," he explained. How come I'm not surprised? "As long as no one got hurt, it's fine," I responded. "Let's wait for tomorrow and watch everything unfold." I crossed my arms as I sat down on the couch. I ordered every single soldier to keep watch for any suspicious activity. We waited here for this day, hoping to catch this murderer.
