I was not sure if it was either Derek was stupid or his big ego but he had never sought Bella's parents, he had only begun looking for them the moment people started asking him questions. I had made sure people got to hear bits of the story without letting it known it was me, at first he had refused but realising that Steve and Grace were missing had left him panicking. I wanted to see his reaction when he learned other alphas had gotten information on what had transpired if he would be outraged or look guilty and when alpha Damien had asked him for a brief moment I saw guilt and shock before he quickly masked them with outrage, he had not quickly masked his emotions as I realized most of us had seen guilt and shock in his eyes.
