A HUNTER!

SOLANE A window on the wall caught my eye while the sounds of several boots traveled to my ears. The room had small chips that sent a single when touched. I touched the file and it altered the entire academy. “The room is locked from inside!” One of the guards shouted, standing at the door. “Break the door.” Principal Amina appeared and commanded the guards. The sweetness in her voice was gone. The guards started banging on the door, leaving scratches on it with their claws. Taking a step back, my feet ran to the glass window and jumped out of it, landing on the dry fallen leaves. The leaves crunched beneath my boots while the door of the documents room opened with a thud sound. “Catch her!” A guard shouted, peeking through the window. By the time two of them jumped out of the window, my feet had already reached the dorm building, crossing the bridge. Within a few seconds, the guards barged into the dorm building, defeating my speed. I hid behind a wall and observed the situation in the main hall through a window, giving me a straight view of the inside. The lights turned on and chaos disturbed the silence. Mrs. Cece, our warden, approached the guards with a confused look on her face. Behind her were Kelly and two other girls from the disciplinary committee. “What's wrong?” She asked. “Someone broke into the documents room and we saw that person entering this building.” Everyone was shocked. “Call all the students. We're going to investigate each one of them.” The guard announced. Kelly and the two other girls went to knock at every door, asking the students to come downstairs. I ran towards the backside from where my feet escaped earlier, climbed the pipe attached to the window of my dorm, and entered the room. As a hunter, my gaze always noticed the surroundings. Fortunately, the Wolves Academy was built like a castle with many windows. Hide and seek was part of my training. Changing into a white nightdress, I pulled out a crepe bandage from my suitcase and wrapped it around my wrist, hiding the jade bracelet underneath. Victor put that bandage into my suitcase to treat my wounds when necessary, but who knew they would come in handy for hiding the jade bracelet. Since jewelry wasn't allowed, it was my best resort against the disciplinary committee. I hid my back hunter clothes behind a huge painting on the wall. A picture of a beautiful blue butterfly. Next, my eyes were searching for a place to hide my black boots shrouded in mud, yet a knock on the door startled me. My hands threw the boots outside the window with a strong force, and they hit a pine tree at a distance. “Open the door, Hailey Randle!” The familiar voice called for me. Messing my hair a bit, my hand opened the door and yawned before her. “Kelly?” I uttered in a sleepy tone. “Emergency alert. Come downstairs.” Words came out of her mouth. A breath slipped free of my lips. Upon coming downstairs, Mrs. Cece ordered us to form horizontal lines. All the members of the disciplinary committee gathered in the dorm building, including Rizz Sylvester. The dorm building was separated for girls and boys, but Mrs. Cece was in charge of both. On the other hand, the disciplinary committee had six members. Kelly and Rizz were dating and ruling together. “Hello, students!” Principal Amina appeared and the clacking sound of her red high heels replenished the silence of the hall. I kept avoiding eye contact with everyone in the main hall, especially Rizz Sylvester. “It has never happened in the history of our Wolves Academy that a student broke into the documents room.” She said, crossing her arms over her chest. “Our students were always obedient.” Rage flashed in her eyes. She sighed. “Check each and every room. If you find anything suspicious, bring it to me.” Her voice commanded the guards. Five guards spread throughout the dorm building. Two of them went to the boys’ section on the right, while three went to the girls’ section on the left. “We all are in huge trouble!” Ezek mumbled, standing beside me. “What's the punishment for breaking into the documents room?” My lips inquired. “Mrs. Amina might inform Alpha.” He whispered. “For such a small reason?” Wrinkles covered my forehead. “It has never happened before, so the case should be reported to Alpha. He owns the academy, after all.” I was in a huge mess!!! While the guards were busy searching the rooms, Mrs. Amina ordered the disciplinary committee to check the students. One after another, my feet stepped into trouble. I regretted being so impulsive on my first day. Patience and keen observation would have been a better option. The disciplinary committee members started checking the students. Girls were checking girls and boys were checking boys. Rizz Sylvester stood before me while searching Ezek on my left. Suddenly, his eyes passed me a death stare. “You pushed me that day.” He whispered devilishly. Ezek was flabbergasted, standing between us. “You hurt my wrist.” My lips replied calmly. Leaving Ezek, he walked over to my side and his gaze fell on the crepe bandage wrapped around my wrist. “Is it because of me?” He twitched a brow. My head nodded. “I only used a small amount of my strength that day, yet you wrapped a crepe bandage around your wrist.” Rizz Sylvester wasn't easy to fool. It felt as if he could see right through my lies. “You seriously sprained my wrist.” My breath stumbled a little under his strong aura. His eyes darkened. “We wolves tend to heal faster. We never use bandages for small injuries.” He muttered softly, yet dangerously. “I am not that strong. My wolf is weak.” Another lie rolled down my tongue. “Victor Randle adopted a daughter from Lancasters' Home. He even enrolled her in the Wolves Academy. Fascinating, isn't it?” “You inquired about me?” My eyes widened. “Rizz Sylvester always inquires about targets before starting a war.” He tilted his head slightly. Ezek was quietly listening to our conversation, trembling in fear. “I am sorry about the push.” My lips apologized, not wanting to engage with him any further. He was bad news!!! Kelly interrupted his interrogation and looked into his eyes. “I can take it from here!” She said, flashing a forced smile. Rizz clenched his jaws and slowly walked away from my sight. It was evident that he was plotting something dangerous in his head. “You better not mess with my boyfriend!” Kelly whispered into my ear while tapping her hands on my body for the search procedure. Our eyes met but her gaze wasn't exactly a pleasant one. Suddenly, a guard rushed over to Mrs. Amina, holding my boots in his hands. “I found it near the trees.” He reported it. Mrs. Amina observed the details on those plain black boots, and the loose strands matted on the back of my neck slowly arose. “Everyone, stop!” She announced. The focus shifted to her. “It seems we have a hunter in the academy.” Her lips mumbled.
