Chapter 17Murphy Murphy paced the pavement outside the police station, his entire body coiled tight with nerves. Remus had been in with Townsend for two hours. He glanced at his watch—two hours and eleven minutes. He hadn’t been allowed in with them. Worry ate at his already frayed nerve endings. What if Remus had been wrong about his people smoothing things over? What if they were going to charge Remus with murder? If they did that, Murphy would have his own hide to worry about because they’d each killed a man. He couldn’t stop the thoughts twisting in his head like a f*****g tornado. He had to get in there.
