Sara walked out of the conference room with her secretary after closing a deal with some investors.
" What's next on my schedule, Vivian? " She questioned, walking in the hallway.
" Umm, nothing else ma'am. That's everything for today. " Vivian responded and she halted abruptly on her heels causing Vivian to do the same..
" Are you sure? " She asked and Vivian nodded.
" Yes, ma'am. " She responded and Sara glanced at her wristwatch to notice it was already 5pm..
" Okay. You can leave. " She mumbled.
" Have a wonderful rest of the day, ma'am. " Vivian said
" Yes and you too.." She muttered and Vivian smiled, walking away while Sara continued on her tracks and arriving at a door. She grabbed the door knob and turned it open. She walked into her large office and slumped into the chair. Her phone rang and she sat up, picking it from the table. She saw the name of the id caller and she sighed. She watched it ring for a while before swiping the call to receive button and placing the phone to her ear.
" Hi, mom. " She said into the phone.
" Sara, why have you been ignoring my calls? " Her mom questioned.
" You know why. " She responded and she could hear the sigh of her mom from the other end.
" Sara - "
" Listen, mom. If you called to try talking me into marrying into the Scofield's family. Then don't bother. " She said, cutting her off.
" I didn't call because of that. It's your birthday today. Why don't you come home for dinner.. " Her mom suggested
" So I can watch you and dad try to force me into marrying some stranger? I will pass. " Sara said.
" It's been two whole weeks, Sara. You can't avoid your dad and I forever. " She said and Sara licked her lips, saying nothing. " Please, darling. " Her mom pleaded and she sighed, rolling her eyes.
" Fine, I just got off work. You will see me soon. " She mumbled.
" Okay. " Her mom said and she pulled the phone away from her, cutting off the call.
She dropped the phone, running a hand through her hair. Yes, it's her birthday today and she has done nothing but work tirelessly all day trying not to think of anyone or anything and it hasn't been working. Not one bit.
She sighed, standing to her feet and grabbing her bag before exiting the office. She first branched home, took a refreshing shower and then changed into a dress she had bought for herself.
" Hmm, beautiful. " She mumbled, grinning at herself in the mirror. She grabbed a black purse and exited the room, walked across the hallway and descended the stairs.
She started across the living room and towards the exit. She got to the door and grabbed it open, stepping out of the room..
She walked to her car and hopped in, dumping her purse on the other passenger' seat before shutting the car door and starting the engine to life. She drove out and joined the roads. She soon arrived and she alighted the car. Sara brows creased when she sighted the two black SUV cars parked outside the garage and she doesn't recognize it to be any of her mom's or dad's.
Does her parents have guests? She asked herself within, shutting her car door and she shook her head, tucking her hair behind her ear before walking towards the door. She rang the doorbell and it took a while before the door opened, revealing her mom.
" Hi, darling. God, you look beautiful. " Her mom complimented and she smiled.
" Thanks, mom. " She mumbled.
" Come on in. " Her mom urged and she stepped into the house. She walked to the living room and halted abruptly on her tracks when she saw her dad and a strange man seated on the sofa and there was another man who looked at her, standing but his back was facing her and he was staring at a picture frame.
Sara raised her gaze to the picture he was staring at and she realized it was hers.
She narrowed her brows, glancing at her dad, his guest and then at her mom.
" What's going on here, mom? Who are these people? " She questioned and her mom swallowed tightly, glancing at her Dad who stood up.
" Sara, meet my friend and business partner, Harold Scofield. " He'd dad introduced and Sara felt a loud bang in her head.
" Harold, meet my Daughter, Sara Prentiss. " Her dad said and she swallowed tightly, glancing at the man who smiled at her and stood up.
" It's nice to meet you dear. You sure are beautiful. " Harold said and Sara shifted her gaze to the youngest man in the room.
He slowly turned around, his green eyes meeting hers and her eyes widened in shock.
It was him. The same man she met at the bar two weeks ago. How... How the hell is here right now? What the hell is going here? Sara questioned herself within.
" Ah, that's my son, Ryan Scofield. " Harold uttered and she blinked, wanting to believe she heard him wrong.
" What!? " She questioned.
" Yes. He is my son Ryan Scofield. " Harold repeated and Sara gulped in for the umpteenth time and she shook her head.
Impossible. How the hell is this happening right now?
" What are they doing here, mom? " Sara questioned, glaring at her mom.
" Darling, please calm down. " Her mom muttered and she scoffed..
Hell, she can't believe her own mother would trick her into this, on her birthday of all days.
She slowly returned her gaze to Ryan and his green, intense eyes which hadn't left hers for a second met hers.
She licked her dry lips, clenching her hands against her bag which she held in her hand.
" You have got to be kidding me. " She mumbled and a silly smile eases onto his lips..
" Nice to meet you again, love. " He said and she inhaled sharply, forcing saliva down her throat which had suddenly gone dry.
