Chapter 02

1190 Words
Janka was a young boy who lived in a small village on the outskirts of a bustling city. He was raised by his grandmother, who was unemployed and struggled to make ends meet. Janka's parents had passed away when he was just a baby, leaving his grandmother as his only guardian. As a child, Janka was full of energy and curiosity. He loved exploring the nearby forests and playing with the other kids in the village. However, life was not easy for Janka and his grandmother. They lived in a small, rundown house and barely had enough food to eat. Janka's grandmother had to stretch every penny to make sure they had enough to survive. Despite their struggles, Janka's grandmother was determined to give him a good childhood. She would tell him stories about his parents and their adventures, and Janka would listen with wide-eyed wonder. She also taught him how to fish in the nearby river and how to forage for edible plants in the forest. Janka loved these activities and would often bring back a catch or a basket full of berries for his grandmother to cook. But as Janka grew older, he began to understand the harsh reality of their situation. His grandmother was getting older and weaker, and it was becoming harder for her to find odd jobs to earn a living. Janka knew he had to do something to help. One day, while exploring the city, Janka came across a group of boys his age shining shoes on the street corners. He was fascinated and decided to give it a try. With his grandmother's permission, he joined the group and learned how to shine shoes. He was a natural and soon became popular among the customers. Janka's grandmother was proud of her grandson's initiative, and with the extra income, they were able to afford a few luxuries like better food and clothes. However, their joy was short-lived as Janka's grandmother fell ill. She was unable to work, and Janka had to take on more responsibilities. He would wake up early to shine shoes, then go to school, and come back to take care of his grandmother. He was only 10 years old, but he had the maturity and determination of someone much older. Despite the challenges, Janka never gave up. He worked hard every day to provide for his grandmother and himself. He even managed to save up enough money to buy his grandmother a new stove, which made cooking much easier for her. Janka's hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. The owner of a nearby restaurant noticed his shoe-shining skills and offered him a job as a dishwasher. Janka was overjoyed and accepted the opportunity. He worked tirelessly, taking on extra shifts to earn more money. With his earnings, he was able to buy his grandmother new clothes and medicine, which helped her get better. As Janka grew older, he continued to work hard and save money. He dreamed of one day becoming a successful businessman and providing a better life for his grandmother. His determination paid off when he was accepted into a prestigious university in the city. Janka's grandmother was overjoyed and proud of her grandson's achievements.
