Ava didn't wait for him to finish his sentence as she grabbed her bag from Hunter's car and ran to Black's car in a blink of an eye. Before Hunter knew what hit him, Black and Ava left him standing and zoomed off in his ( Black's ) car. As they drove away, Ava looked back to see Hunter still standing rooted to the spot and looking lost. She exhaled a long sigh of relief and closed her eyes, fatigue consuming her.
" I'm sorry if I startled you but it was the only way of saving you " Black said quietly and Ava nodded, too tired to say anything.
Black sent Alex a text that everything was okay, including Ava.
