Last Day Of The School

1223 Words
It was just like any other day, the chirping of birds could be heard, the sound from the T.V. was also clear and the scent of food had spread in the air. Jay, who was just 16 years old, was walking towards his school for which today was the last day. It seemed as if Summer vacations were soon going to start for which he was without a doubt happy. But it seemed as if he had plans for himself. It was by no means to enjoy and pass the time carefreely, it was totally different and hectic. "No matter what happens, I'll build my body in these holidays!", he said with a great amount of determination and fire in his eyes. He was quite frail and thin. He could easily be compared with a stick, though that wasn't essentially bad for kids of 16 years, it seemed like he was bullied because of that. He wanted to get stronger no matter what. Each and every day he had been bullied by his classmates just because he seemed quite weak to them. Since childhood, he had been bullied by someone or the other. The last time when the matter went out of hand and became unbearable, he forced his parents to shift somewhere else so that he could at least attend a better school. Regardless, no matter whichever school he went to, he was always bullied specifically because of his weak body and introverted personality of his. "Yes, no matter what happens, I'll definitely tell her today!" Just because it was the last day, it seemed as if he was flying on high clouds. He secretly loved a girl from the current school to which he went and since it was the last day of the year, he somehow mustered the courage to confess to her. However, it was no different from other times. He would say that daily and decide to confess her, but the moment he would reach the school, all his courage would have already disappeared. "Sigh, I just hope that they don't pick on me today...", he said to himself and continued his walk towards the school. It took him no more than 35 minutes to reach the school gates. He looked here and there only to find the gang of bullies not present. 'Good, they are nowhere to be found...', he sighed in relief. He had come quite early because he didn't want to meet them and thus slipped inside the gate and rushed towards his classroom. He dashed to the first floor and then immediately went inside the class 1-F. He was a first-year student in high school, though that didn't matter right now. All he did was sit on his seat and wait for others. He basically didn't want to come on the last day, but it seemed as if he would be moving away soon so he just wanted to confess to the girl. This was not his first time loving a girl, the so-called love of his was no more than a crush or attraction towards the girls. He was in the same situation countless times and had been rejected the same number of times. This time too he came for no other reason than self-satisfaction because no matter what happened, he couldn’t keep the feelings to himself in his heart. It felt like a burden to him and probably that was the main reason because of which he wanted to confess and either get rejected or be accepted. "What's the time...?", he took a look at his silver-colored wristwatch only to find that it was just 7:55 AM. The class usually started around 9:00 AM and students used to start arriving around 8:30 AM, so he had more than 30 minutes in his hand right now. He decided to lie down and relax for a bit but it seemed that he couldn't do that because of the tension which he had about the confession. Furthermore, he decided that no matter what happened, he wouldn't go in front of the gang that bullied him for the past 1 year! Soon the students started to enter the class. They started to gossip with each other which was bugging Jay. But he didn't mind that and just covered his ears. All of a sudden the entire class became quiet. Jay raised his head almost instantly after he felt that and found a tall and muscular boy with tanned skin glaring at him. "Y-yes?", Jay knew that his doom was near because the person who was staring at him was none other than the leader of the gang that bullied him. The boy asked Jay to come out despite the fact that the teachers were soon going to come. They wouldn't teach anyway on the last day and would just sit and chat with students. Considering that, Jay was called. He returned back to class in no less than 5-10 minutes. But it seemed as if his face was completely swollen. He had a lot of bruises too and as usual, the teacher asked, "Where were you? What happened? How did you get hurt?" And as usual, he too answered, "I fell down from the stairs..." He had mastered that dialogue since his childhood. He had repeatedly said that reason so many times that even if he forgot his name, he wouldn't forget that! The teacher didn't pry on the matter as Jay didn't give a chance to do so because he never complained. He just went and sat on his seat while his entire body was paining badly. There were a few blood marks on his back too but right now he didn't worry about that. What he was thinking about was the confession which he was going to make. Soon it was lunch break and he tried to confess to the girl but it seemed like she was too busy to even talk to him. "Then, can you at least listen to me before departure?", Jay asked and she just nodded her head with that. Jay sat back in his place after which the classes started soon and the teachers came and just sat and gossiped. Soon the day had already passed and the program of telling the speech and biding farewell was also over. Jay rushed towards the girl and somehow confessed her in just one breath. "I like you... will you go on a date with me?", he asked. The girl was shocked by what he said and kept staring at him. Jay failed to understand what had happened when suddenly he found a tall shadow behind him. "Wha-" Even before he could turn back, he was punched and then kicked by some unknown individual while others stood and just watched this happen. Jay didn't even know what exactly happened. He had almost fainted but then he wanted to hear the answer for his confession for which he opened his eyes only to find the tall boy who was none other than Lyman, who was the gang's leader, and the girl Fian, holding hands and walking away. He then understood the entire thing and just kept lying on the ground while tears ran down his eyes. 'Damn... this is the worst Last Day of the school...', he thought. To be continued...
