Despite the less than ideal accommodations, we settled in for what little rest we could manage. The night passed slowly, the weight of our impending mission bearing down on us. As the first light of dawn began to filter through the trees, I rose from my makeshift bed, the anticipation of the coming day stirring within me. Outside, the air was crisp with the promise of a new day, the soft light of dawn casting a golden hue across the forest.
