Chapter 5

That was so close. I had almost lost control of myself in there with her. Seeing her bare alabaster skin, I had to fight every fiber of my being not to just kiss her right there. She had looked so vulnerable, so easy for me to just take into my arms and have my way with her. If she had not looked so uncomfortable, I probably would not have been able to stop myself at just touching her cheek. She was still holding out for her perfect husband but he did not exist. He was only a memory of hers from a dream. I was real, maybe when she came to realize that; she could be mine. I had to figure a way to tell her so that she did not also hate me in the process. I did not deserve her, but she did not know that, and I wanted her. I just had to tell her the truth in a way that she would understand that I was trying to help her. I mean I did help her escape the castle and she was no longer at the kings will. So, I really did save her. I would just have to focus heavily on that.   “Ummm...excuse me.”    The sound of her melodic voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked over and there she was, Analise in nothing but a towel, water dripping down her hair and tracing all the parts of her body I wish I could be. This is so unfair; she is literally naked in front of me and I still cannot have her. This feels like punishment enough to me.    “You said you had clothes for me, but I did not see them in the bathroom. I was not sure where to look,” Analise said warily.   She clung to that towel tightly knowing it was the only thing keeping me from seeing all of her. I walked into the hallway close to where she stood, so close I could hear her breathing. I stepped past her a little bit and opened her door. I pointed to the clothes I had left for her. She nodded and blushed as she realized, she had not needed to come out in a towel to come get me. Analise brushed past me into the room and I felt the heat of her skin as she walked by. My face flushed and I closed the door before I could make any terrible decisions. I went into my own room to cool down for a bit. She was driving me crazy. I laid in bed staring up at the ceiling just trying to calm down. After a little bit I heard a knock on the door.   “You can come in Analise.”   She opened the door. I could not bring myself to look at her just yet because the images of her in that towel were still swirling around in my head. As well as all the things I could have done if I had just removed that towel from her grasp.    “I think it is time we talked,” she said very matter of fact.   I sat up in bed now looking at her. Her steely grey eyes now piercing through my own. She pulled her hair back into two little braids that sat like a crown on her head while the rest of her still wet hair draped down her back. The dress I bought her fit perfectly around her curves and had a slight v-slit in the bodice exposing just a small amount of cleavage. Green was definitely her color and it suited her well.    “I need to know exactly what is going on.”   “Alright...where should I start?”   “Well maybe you can explain why you are here. I have not seen or heard from you in over three years and now I am on the run with. So that seems like a good place to begin.”   I took a big sigh. Here it goes.   “The last time you saw me was actually a week ago. It was also the first time you and I had ever met.”   “That does not make any sense though. We are friends, we have known each other since we were teenagers. The last time I saw you though we were only 19.”   “I understand why you would think that, but you do not really know me, except from your dreams. I have magic abilities to change and erase memories in people’s dreams. King Cardwell asked me to erase all of your memories and create new ones. That is why this world does not exist your memory.”   I could see the confusion build on her face.   “You are working for the king? You rescued me from him though... I am not understanding.”   “I was working for him but as replaced your memory with the dream, I got to know you. I really do care for you like your memory serves. That is real! That is how I truly feel!”   She was becoming more upset.   “If you really cared then why do you not just give me my memories back? Seems as simple as that. I have memories and I can just leave.”   I winced; the thought of her leaving was painful even though I understood.   “Analise, it is not as simple as that. The king has your memories and once a new memory has been placed it cannot be altered until the old memories have been restored.”   “So, I will just never really know who I am then, is what you are telling me? All those memories were fake and now I am just supposed to your word on it all?”   “Yes and no. I was real, how you re-acted to things in the dream were still real. Everything you like and dislike are all the same. It is just all your life experiences and people were replaced.”   “Except for you…and the man in my dreams… was not really my husband?”   “No... I am very sorry. I know this must hurt but I wanted you to know the truth. I could not let the king have you. I was not able to control your dreams in the exact manner he wanted. I was not sure what he was going to do with you. I had to get you out of there. I saved you!”   She was sitting in a chair just staring at the floor. I could tell she was processing and I just wanted to comfort her. I knelt down beside her and held her hand. She quickly pulled them back.   “Please do not touch me.”   “Analise...look at me. If I could give you your memories back I would. It would be like it never happened. I am sorry.”   “I cannot believe it. This is not real. You are lying! There is no way anything you are saying could be possible! I need to leave. I cannot stay here with you!”   “You cannot leave! It is too dangerous for you! You need me still; I know your angry but we can work through this. Just stay here for a little bit until we figure things out.”   She got up to leave and I could not just let her go. She had not even given me a chance to make it up to her. I grabbed her arm to keep her there.    “I told you not to touch me!” Analise screamed trying to push me away.   Her hand pressed against my chest and I could feel her will me back. I flew into the wall, smacking my head hard against the wall. I reached my hand up to my head and felt blood cover my fingertips. She looked at me her anger now turning to panic, disbelief spreading all across her face. I tried to get up but the pain was making me dizzy.    “I did not even get to the part... where I explained you also have magic.”   My eyes fell shut and then it just went dark.
