DUST AND BLOOD Chapter 2

Cade's men hesitated, looking at each other uncertainly. One by one, they lowered their guns, and Cade, his face twisted in anger, reluctantly followed suit. The stranger approached Jack, a hint of a smile on his face. "Glad I got here when I did, Jack," he said. "My name's Ryder. I've been tracking these varmints for weeks." Jack nodded his gratitude, his eyes still fixed on Cade. "Thanks, Ryder. I owe you one." Ryder's smile grew wider. "No need to thank me, Jack. We're after the same thing – bringing Victor Vex to justice." With Cade and his men disarmed, Jack and Ryder had the upper hand. But Jack knew that Victor Vex wouldn't give up easily. The battle for the range was far from over ...and Jack's next move would be crucial in determining the outcome. With Ryder by his side, Jack felt a sense of relief wash over him. Together, they could take on Victor Vex and his men. "Let's get these men tied up and taken care of," Jack said, nodding towards Cade and his gang. "Then, we'll head back to the ranch and come up with a plan to take down Victor once and for all." Ryder nodded in agreement, and together, they bound Cade and his men with rope. As they worked, Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Ryder. He had arrived just in time, and Jack's life had been saved. With Cade and his men secured, Jack and Ryder mounted their horses and rode towards the McCoy Ranch. The night air was filled with tension, but with Ryder by his side, Jack felt a sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could defeat Victor Vex and bring peace to the range. As they approached the ranch, Jack's family emerged from the darkness, their faces filled with worry. "Jack, we were so worried about you," his sister Emily said, rushing to his side. Jack smiled, relief washing over him. "I'm fine, sis. Thanks to Ryder here, I owe him one." Ryder nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. "No need to thank me, Jack. We're in this together now." With Ryder's help, Jack felt a sense of determination. They would take down Victor Vex, no matter what it took. The battle for the range was far from over, but with Ryder by his side, Jack felt ready to face whatever lay ahead. As they entered the ranch house, Jack's father, a grizzled old rancher, looked up from his chair by the fire. "Jack, what happened?" he asked, his eyes scanning the room. Jack filled him in on the events of the night, leaving out no details. His father's face grew darker with each passing moment, his jaw clenched in anger. "That Victor Vex is a menace," he growled. "We've got to put a stop to his antics once and for all." Ryder nodded in agreement. "I've been tracking him for weeks, and I've got a plan to take him down. But we'll need to be careful – he's got a lot of men, and they won't hesitate to use violence." Jack's mother, a stern-faced woman with a kind heart, stood up from her chair. "We'll do whatever it takes to protect our land and our family," she said, her voice firm. The group fell silent, each lost in their own thoughts. But as they sat there, a plan began to form – a plan to take down Victor Vex and bring peace to the range. "Let's get to work," Jack said finally, his voice filled with determination. "We've got a war to win." Ryder smiled, a glint in his eye. "I've got a few tricks up my sleeve. Let's show Victor Vex what we're made of." With a newfound sense of purpose, the group set to work, planning and strategizing their next move. The battle for the range was far from over, but with Jack, Ryder, and the McCoy family on the job, Victor Vex was in for a surprise. As the night wore on, Jack, Ryder, and the McCoy family pored over maps and strategies, planning their attack on Victor Vex's operation. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they were determined to take a stand. Ryder leaned over the map, his finger tracing the route they'd take to reach Vex's headquarters. "We'll need to be careful," he said. "Vex has men stationed all around the perimeter. We'll need to take them out quietly if we want to get the drop on him." Jack nodded, his mind racing with the possibilities. "I know a way in," he said. "There's a hidden pass on the eastern side of the property. We can use that to sneak in undetected." His father nodded, a look of approval on his face. "That's the way to do it, boy. Let's get moving." With a plan in place, the group set to work, gathering their gear and preparing for the mission ahead. As they rode out under the stars, Jack felt a sense of determination wash over him. They were going to take down Victor Vex, no matter what it took. The ride was tense, the only sound the creaking of the horses' saddles and the rustling of the wind through the trees. Jack's senses were on high alert, his eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of Vex's men. As they approached the hidden pass, Ryder held up a hand, his eyes locked on something in the distance. "Wait," he whispered. "Do you see that?" Jack followed Ryder's gaze, his heart sinking as he saw the outline of Vex's men, patrolling the perimeter. They were in for a fight...
