Chapter 3 Madeline got home after dark. Ciaran’s car was still parked outside the house. Starving, she made a beeline to the kitchen. Susan, the housekeeper, had put her dinner in the warming cabinet. She must have gone home. Madeline didn’t like to keep live-in staff. Everyone was entitled to a life with people they cared about.
