Zen sat in that truck, her Father’s power barreling down on her, keeping her in place. All she could feel was that growing rage in the pit of her stomach. She bared her teeth in fury, even though the one the gesture was meant for was nowhere in sight.
She focused on that power holding her, caressing it with her own, but it only dug its invisible talons deeper into her mind. She tried to growl in frustration, but all that came out was a lousy whimper. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, using her own magic to trace that power all the way back to its source, her Father.
She wasn’t sure what her plan was, what exactly she wanted to do when she reached the end of that tether that linked her to her Father, but she needed to sever the tie, the hold he had on her. So, she clawed her way
