The journey towards the village was a quick and quiet one. Save for the horses and their footfall, nobody spoke. The children continued through the lone dusty road, keeping an eye over their shoulders as if making certain they were safe. So far the fog had not reappeared and the forest kept the whispers of stillness, sending a chill that could only register on their skin. If Len had the power, he would have erased the gloomy memories from the minds of his friends. It was odd seeing them in this unprecedented state of woe and ail. Once upon a time, they were just cadets, singing joyfully for having to join the army. But now...now it is different.
