“Any questions for me?” Dr. Nakashimi isn’t a wolf but clearly treats wolves. She explained that with my implant removed I will start to ovulate with the next week or two and should wear condoms to prevent pregnancy. Who am I to point out she just removed my implant without my consent, that was there to prevent said pregnancy. She also gave me a box of plan B and let me know it works for “my kind”. The irony isn’t lost on me.
She said she would have my results by the beginning of next week and would call me. I don't even know what labs she and Michael took but I guess if she wants to call me with results, sure thing. It was then that I realized I still had a phone. I’m not sure why I thought it had been taken. Maybe I just assumed that because I didn’t have a choice in going with Troy, that I was a prisoner and prisoners don’t have phones but when I dug through my purse there it was. It’s dead but I have it.
“I don’t think so.”
“Well if you need anything, you can reach me through MyChart. I am very responsive. It was a pleasure to meet you Ashleigh. Let me escort you to Mr. Venice.”
Mr. Venice? Is his last name or does he just go by the pack name. I wondered, thinking about how little I actually knew of Troy. I only knew what people warned me of. I only knew of a hostile jerk that gave me amazing, life altering orgasms, but also the guy who smashed my head into a window. But was that him or some curse? I kept thinking about the story my aunt told me, the drama between our packs and realized this is why I preferred human life. Michale said he is a good alpha but even he seemed scared of him.
As we walked through the halls and got to the elevator, I realized when she hit the top floor, I was not leaving the hospital by normal means. When the elevator opened my eyes immediately met with Troy, standing in an impeccably tailored suit that fit the contours of his body perfectly. His hair is slicked back, his curls looking tame. Everything about him exudes strength and power. The top two buttons of his white oxford are undone, intentionally and when my eyes met his, he is very aware that I was checking him out. He narrows his eyes on me and smirks, the heat in his gaze has my heart hammering in my chest.
“Ashleigh.” He holds a hand out for me. Then nods at the doctor, dismissing her. “We are taking the helicopter to the airport.”
“Ok.” Is as much as I can muster, his smell is intoxicating. His cologne paired with his earthy natural undertones has my thighs trembling. This is the bonds fault. I hardly know the guy, yes he is handsome but this response is obscene. I’m practically dripping wet on sight alone.
Troy moves me around like I am nothing. Tells me to watch my head as he picks me up and sits me in the helicopter. He buckles me in and puts headphones over my ears. I sit there dumbfounded, trying to reign in my desire. I don’t know what kind of vibe I am giving off or what expression is on my face. But Troy uses a finger, hooks my chin and pulls my face toward him. His intense green eyes burrow deep into my soul, I can feel him urging me to be calm, I feel safe with him. I pull my lips between my teeth, wetting them with my tongue and slowly dragging them out of my mouth, his own lips hover over them, the heat of his breath warming my skin. I am trembling, my breath is shaky. I have no idea why I am incapable of saying or doing anything but I just stare at him doe eyed. Then the helicopter begins to move and Troy leans back into his seat. His hands are on top of my thighs and I move mine to thread my fingers between his.
I physically shake my head, trying to break the daze I was just in. Its a quick ten minute flight but Troy doesnt free his hands till we land. Then we are being escorted into a jet. The interior is a level of wealth reserved for movies and the people in them. Big cozy leater seats, positioned for privacy. There is a newspaper on a dark solid table, between two chairs facing one another. The space has three other sets of seats further back, then a hall leading to the front and another leading to the back. Troy;s hand on my lower back guides me into a seat. I look at the newspaper, I imagine its for aesthtic rather than reading but I debate picking it up, I need something to distract me, something to do with my hands.I feel so tongue tied in front of Troy, all I can think about is his lips on mine.
“It’s only about an hour flight but lunch will be served. Are you hungry?” Troy sits across from me.
I look up at him, through my lashes and nod.
Troy slowly closes his eyes and inhales deep. “You are such a good girl.” He purrs.
I blush, I realize I’ve been aroused, like embarassingly so since he first met me off the elevator. His praise and appreciation for my scent makes me swoon and I feel like I am floating. It’s so ridiculous and I am so upset with myself. Two weeks ago I was refusing Kingston because he was a wolf, I wanted nothing to do with the life. Yet now, I am mated, giving up my life to appease some violent cursed alpha.
“Without the mate bond, would you have been attracted to me?”
Troys eyes narrow in on me, “Yes.”
“Is that why you acted disgusted by me and called me fat on multiple occassions?”
Troy shakes his head, he seems surprised, agitated that I am bringing this up, I can see his jaw tighten.
He doesn't answer so I continue, “Cause I am really not interested in pack life. I think taking the choice out of someone’s hands about their partner is fundamentally wrong. It’s one thing if you got to know me and liked me of your own accord, its another if you had been physical attracted to me. But the more I think about it… I have a job, a home, I was just starting to date someone and I need to give that up because you found me? Doesn’t seem right. I don’t know anything about you or your life and vice versa, I did make some accusations based on gossip. So, I am sorry for what I said in the cabin. I really don’t know you or your pack. But I want to be able to make my own decision, make my own judgements.”
“What is it that you want then Ashleigh? What are you asking of me?”
“A chance to get to know you but I want to be free to make my own choices. If I had any say in it, I would not be leaving my house or work.”
“You had 11 years of freedom. 11 years to make your own choices.” What is he talking about? His eyes are swirling grey and his spitting out the words he is saying.
“What do you mean?”
“I scented you, my mate. Before you left your pack. I didn’t go after you, I didn’t stake my claim and force you then. But when fate brings you to my door, I’d be a fool to let you go a second time.”
“Why didn’t you claim me then?” My wolf whimpers at the idea, that he knew us before we knew him and he abandoned us. I am shocked to hear he has known about me this whole time. But hurt too, he left us alone all those years.
“You were 16, I knew you had a few years before you would scent me as yours.” That explains the first few years but why would he leave me unclaimed for all those years following.
“So, really fate is what changed your mind? An irresistible bond that you knew existed and you denied yourself for a decade but now, after I have a life you want to take me from it?”
“Really Ashleigh?” His voice was loud, accusatory, his words coming out in a snarl. “Are you so happy without a pack? So happy with your business degree? So happy in your condo with your shitty job? Did Jeff make you happy? Will Kingston?”
Wait what!? How does he know about Jeff or Kingston? Toxic stalking alphas, all the f*cking same.“F*ck you, whatever you think you know about me. You don’t know sh*t about me!” I crossed my arms over my chest, I was nervous though. I could see his eyes changing and although he was pushing me, I was pushing him right back. If this situation escalated, he could hurt me again. Would he hurt me again?
Sensing the tension rising or maybe hearing us yelling. Vince and another wolf who had been out of sight came up, between us.
“Hey man, lets go to the back.” Vince was calm but firm.
“I gotta it under control.” Troy snapped at Vince.
“You may, but she has no f*****g idea what she is saying. Come on man.” Vince urged, still using his body to separate the two of us.
“I. Have. It. Under. Control.” Troy enunciated every word, as he rose to his feet. Standing chest to chest against Vince.
“You may right this second. But we are on a plane. If you need to spare it out, wait till we land. Brother you need to stay in control.” While Vince is blocking me, the other wolf ushers me through a hallway at the end of the plane, when I step about half way through I realize its a bedroom. How loaded is Troy, if he can take a helicopter to his private jet that has a bedroom in it?
“Sit, I’ll have them bring you lunch in here.” The wolf orders, quickly turning his back to me and departing from the space.
~
When we land I am being herded into a car, I have two guards with me and a driver, none of which I know. Troy and Vince are no where to be seen, I haven't seen or heard them since they seperated us. Without being told anything I know we are heading to my condo.
I’m shuffled inside and the guards remain outside.
The first thing I do is plug in my phone. Next thing I do is get in the shower and make myself feel like a person again. As I’m staring at myself in the mirror. I’m at a loss of what to do. Troy is right, I don’t love my job. I am making the best out of the move to Cali but I don’t enjoy what I am doing, I don’t like the work I am doing or my boss. I miss my store but I didn’t dream about being a retail store manager. As far as Jeff goes, f**k him. I’m not even sure how Troy knows about my alphahole ex. My exes are in my past and as for Kingston, I’m pretty impartial, we’ve had some nice days together but he is still a stranger to me, I really don’t trust him. I want to though because f**k he is gorgeous. To be honest it’s gonna take a lot for me to trust any man and I kind of feel bad for immediately shacking up with Troy, I know its the mate bonds fault but still it feels like I’ve ruined any chance of exploring a relationship with Kingston further.
Mate. My wolf yaps, reminding me that there isn’t really a choice, is there? I barely remember my father but even after my mom lost him, she never had anything for praise for being mated to a wolf. Her words of love and adoration for my father play in my mind. My father was never a jailor though. He never hit my mom. How can we move forward from that. Mate sorry. Curse.
I roll my eyes. All the rumours about him could be true and you'd still show your neck to him, I scold my wolf. I guess the real question is do I run or do I stay? Based on what my aunt and cousin said, I don't think he would hurt my family and having the knowledge that he has known I was his mate for this long and left me alone, means he probably wouldn't fight too hard to get me back. If I stay, how do I go about my relationship with Troy, do I press for freedom to do my own thing, get to know him on my own terms? Do I just give into his desires? If I run do I take the oath pack with Full Howl and get rid of the bond all together, could I stay here if I did that? Do I trust that Troy will let me have a choice? I don't but for some reason I’m not scared of Troy. I should be scared of him, right?
I grab my laptop and headphones and plop down on my bed, loving the feel of my mattress, my duvet cool against my skin. I put on my spotify playlist and as I sink into my bed the lyrics of ZAYN’s Dusk till Dawn move through my body, it draws me back to the cabin, the sweat, the teeth, my nails digging into flesh, his palms and fingers digging into my hips. My mouth hovering over him, his lips below mine while I scream his name. How he stole my breath, how we fit perfectly together, how he filled me. God, I can feel his hands running through my hair, pulling at the base of my head as my back arches. My whole body is a livewire.
