CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO As I returned to the spirit world, the only thing going through my head was that Halgeron was going to catch me for good this time. As we appeared in the mist, CeCe hooked her arm into mine, using me as a crutch. Her corpse smell was welcoming to my nose. The little boy appeared next to her. “You are hereby released,” she said. The boy’s eyes rolled into his head and a spirit flew from him, circling us before retreating into the mist. The body crashed to the ground and the rocks and soil quickly absorbed it, pulling it under. “I no longer need him,” CeCe said. “How are you holding up?” I asked, patting her hand. “I'll be great in a few minutes,” she said, pointing into the mist, at a writhing shape.
