Chapter 33

1325 Words

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE THE NEXT DAY I crawled off my couch to a feverish knock on the door. My head was spinning and my ears were throbbing when I ripped open the door. Granny stood on my porch with a look of pure fear in her eyes. “Thank the Lord!” she said. “You're alive!” “I'm just fine, Granny,” I said, yawning. “What's up?” She put her hands on her hips. “What's up?” she asked. “You gon’ tell me what happened last night?” I wiped my face. “Nothing happened last night.” Granny put her hands over her mouth. “I knew it,” she said. “I knew something was going on at this house, and that you were acting strange. And now you can't tell me.” Oh, boy. Did Granny know what happened here last night? I wondered what she saw. “This house is cursed,” she said, powerwalking off the porch.
