Eliza P.O.V
After retreating to the room in which I woke, I slid my shoes off before climbing into the silk sheets that lined the king size mattress. I took my phone out of my back pocket and unlocked it. I quickly found my photo gallery and scrolled to the “forbidden photos”. I have photos of what my brother did to me, mom still doesn’t know that I have them, but I do. I look at them when I am alone. I look at them wondering why he picked me, if I did something bad to make him do that to me. I set my phone down on the bed next to me, the screen still on, and I get up and out of the bed. Standing there I take a step towards the bathroom and I stand in front of the mirror, slowly running my fingers over each and every scar, remembering the searing pain of each one as he gave them to me.
I hear a clang of metal to the floor and I immediately whip myself around in a panic to find where it came from. In an instant I see Luca and Niko standing with their backs to me, as if they are huddled around something. I take a step towards them and I realize what they are holding, they are looking at the pictures, the ones that only I know about. f**k! How could I be so stupid as to leave my phone unlocked? I sprint towards them, crossing the short distance in a desperate attempt to get my phone back. “Eliza? What are these?” I hear one mumble under his breath. “Please, just give me my phone back,” I say quietly. They turn around and look at me and I immediately lurch backward in fear, cowering against the wall in hopes it will provide me with protection, all the while knowing it won’t.
They seem surprised at my reaction but I don’t care, they look too much like him, even though I know he is back home, and that they aren’t him. My breathing gets raspy, my eyelids get heavy and I know what is about to happen. They set my phone down and in a rush they are by my side with a scared look that plagues their faces. They are hesitant to touch me as I shrug back each time one of them reaches out. A tear escapes my eye as my heart rate speeds up, and I feel as though I am going to pass out. I feel a warm hand on each of my arms and I feel butterflies erupt in my stomach. My heart rate slows and as I begin to calm down and become aware of my surroundings, I hear two very sweet, soft, and deep voices coo sweet nothings in my ears.
“Eliza, it’s ok,” “We are here ELiza,” I hear them say together. I begin to feel tingles up and down my arms, they calm my nerves and I regain my sight and I see both boys sitting by either side of me on the floor with worry clear on their faces. Once I register what is happening I jump up and run to the bed to grab my phone and I lock myself in the bathroom. Obviously taking them a second to realize what had happened, they both come up to the door with quiet feet, they crouch down against the door and say something, as if whispering to themselves. “Eliza it’s ok, we won't hurt you, we just want to talk, please.” Niko says in a soft voice. “Please come out Eliza,”
Niko P.O.V
She took off into the bathroom after she caught us looking at her phone, I mean, who keeps pictures like that, a constant reminder of the worst time in your life. Luca and I were just bringing her some food so she could eat and we could hopefully talk to her some, see if we could get her to open up just a little. I then started to hear clanging in the bathroom, like real deep thuds. In a concerned frenzy, I looked to Luca to see if he heard them too and the horrific look on his face told me he did. “Eliza, what are you doing, are you ok?” … “Eliza, answer me, please,” worry washes over me and I can't think straight. I get up off of the floor in a frenzy, looking for something to use to unlock the door but i find no luck at first. I then remember that the master key is down the hall in my father's room. I race out of Eliza’s temporary room and down the hall to my father’s room in search of the key.
