Leah's POV
"Asher, please stay!!”
He turned around with hopes gleaming in his eyes, "Let me make breakfast for you.I promised you dinner last night but failed to do it.”
"You don't have to worry about it.”
"I insist and also let's see more often except you don't want to help me anymore..” I gave the puppy looks.
"Okay!!”

It's been days already and there was no news about my missing kids and friend.
"Any news?” I asked immediately Asher came to the house and he nodded his head saying, "The place we checked was just an empty warehouse and other bad news, two kids got missing again.”
"I know my kids are out there,we just got to try again.”
"Are you sure you don't want us to get help from Alpha Elijah??” I hate it every time he mentions his name. I will never seek his help, not in this life and not in my next life. I hate him and I will never allow him to have access to our kids.
“Then you need to convince him you know.” My wolf said to me and she is right, I really don’t want to start telling my story to Asher, so it’s best I make him see another reason I won’t work with their Alpha.
“How many kids has he found? None? So I am not putting my trust in someone who doesn't deserve it.” I hope he buys my excuse because I am really not working with him.
"I understand.... You look pale, are you sure I shouldn't get the pack doctor for you? You keep getting worse.” He said with concern in his eyes.
"I will be fine, and I don't need a doctor,I just need my kids.”
"I promise you, I will do my best to find them.”
"I am counting on you, Asher.” I said to him about crying when he hugged me, saying, “Your kids will be fine, trust me, you need to be strong because of them okay.” I felt comforted in his arms, but it didn’t feel right at all, so I pulled out from the hug.
“Asher..I !!!” I tried to speak, but he interrupted, “It’s just a hug and nothing more, I will be taking my leave now.” He said to me with concerns about my health reflecting in his eyes. I know he cares about me, but right now, I really don’t want to risk it. I hope the moon goddess grants him a second chance mate. I really hope so.
He left my home and Cindy disturbed me non-stop about accepting our mate, saying how we needed him, blah! Blah!! I don’t need a mate to define my happiness at all. I know someday I will be a stronger wolf and not the weak wolf Elijah called me.
I felt awkward a bit so I just walked to my room to take a little rest, so I don't end up falling really sick, like Asher said to me, I need to stay strong for the sake of my kids and that is what I am going to do no matter what.
The next day, Asher came around informing me about a lady named Betty, her kids were also taking from her but this time around it was really different. The approach they used in kidnapping her kids was crazy, she was drugged to sleep while they took the kids from her home, but he made me understand he feels the lady is holding back some details. I asked if I could talk to her to find out the truth from her, I know he wasn’t supposed to give me her details because this is his work still he has no other choice and I promised not to jeopardise his work.
I took my time to bake some cookies and carried it on my way to see Mrs Betty. I believe I can do this.I just need to get clues on finding my kids, I feel really incomplete without them present in my life and my friend as well,I wonder how she is coping as well,I know she will also look after them no matter the looks of things over there and I know she is scared as well. I pray we located them soon enough.
I knocked at the door non-stop and no one would answer me, should I leave and return some other time? But I am here already, I just can’t retreat right now. I turned the door knob and it opened for me.
“Are you insane? What do you think you are doing?” My wolf warned.
“Cindy,I really need to do this, if she was drugged, that means she must have seen something that can give us a clue to catch those bastards taking the kids.”
“But it’s risky, you know you are sick, we are not strong enough to defend ourselves.”
“Who are you?” A lady came out from nowhere with her wolf eyes looking so scary, it must be Betty. I stopped talking to my wolf and focused on the lady with a smile.
“Oh good morning Mrs Betty, I knocked and no one answered.”
“I said who are you? How dare you barge into my apartment without my approval.” She appeared right in front of me and grabbed my neck, “I am sorry for coming in without your permission, my kids were also taken with my friend,I just wanted to talk cause I heard about your story as well.” She tightened her grip and I was unable to breathe, “Listen lady, never you come back here,now leave before I kill you.” She added and before I could say another word,she already pushed me outside and I heard her locked it from inside.
That didn’t go well at all, I guess I just have to try again when she is in a good mood.
I kept walking on the road sluggishly feeling really sick right now when, suddenly, a car was parked right in front of me. How rude of the driver to block my path. Immediately a familiar scent filled the atmosphere, it was Elijah, what the hell is he doing here?
“I thought by now you would be out of my territory!” He said with those cold looks of him.
I stood my ground saying, “You can’t kick me out of this town, jerk, so get out of my way right now.” I noticed my energy was draining off slowly and what he said next, I couldn’t hear them anymore, the whole place turned upside down and a sudden darkness consumed me as I fell on his body.
