ONLINE ADVERTISING, ALSO known as online marketing, is not a complicated business area as people portray it to be. It is a form of marketing and advertising which uses the internet to promote products and services to audiences and platform users. It allows you to find, reach and engage people who are likely to be interested in your business without spending money on an overly broad audience.
Peace used a number of platforms like Google Ads, f*******:, i********:, Bing, AdMob as well as w******p to make fashion blogging, to create unique campaigns for new releases, generating posts and videos for the WeAre brand. Peace was advertising products for a man called Brian Moyo, an international clothes manufacturer who owned the largest horse farm in the Midlands, the Moyo Ranch, and conducted online marketing. Brian Moyo was Peter’s employer and owner of one of the largest clothing companies in Zimbabwe, WeAre. Peace had been shown the pictures of the horse farm and the main house. There were white plank fences, paddocks with red trim and lovely grass to take care of the horses all around as far as the eye could see.
Peace had always been a quiet person, who only talked much when he was around his friends. He continued to go to the Public Speaking Club, but he always made sure that he maintained an average distance from the others, especially girls, as much as possible.
He had seen Mitchell some day when he had a free period and had talked with her. She had asked him how it was going and if he'd found one to settle for and Peace was honest with her as always.
"Well," Peace had said. "I managed to break up with all my girls-"
"All?" Mitchell gasped. "Dude, you keep on hurting people-"
"I figured that's the only way to stop myself from repeating it."
"Dude, how do you expect yourself to change when you keep on doing the same thing? Tell me, how did they take it?"
Peace had shrugged. "Badly. What do you suggest I should have done instead?"
"At least ignoring them would have been better. That way they would see that you don't care about them anymore and they would move on-"
"Believe me, I've tried that already. It doesn't work."
"So, what you did worked?" She asked.
"Well, breaking up with them worked but I haven't found anyone yet. But I'm working on that."
"Why didn't you just choose one among your girls?"
"I considered that option, but thought it was better to start afresh,” Peace said earnestly. “You know, find someone new."
Mitchell had frowned but made no further comment.
PUBLIC SPEAKING, DEBATE, SPEECH and Quiz competitions were in two weeks time now. Peace decided to participate now. After the first trial in impromptu speech, the literature teacher instructed him not to miss practice at the club everyday after lunch now. Mr Lameck had hopes in him.
Today they were going to do debate, tomorrow they would have both written and oral tests so that the final team would be chosen for the competition, and then on the following week there would be debate and other rehearsals.
It was lunchtime and several students were at the tuckshop. Roy and Peace sat on a bench by the wall eating some buns and drinks.
"I always love being at the tuckshop at lunchtime," Roy was saying. "Look how cool this spot is. I get to see all kinds of girls from here."
"Well, I hate eating in public," Peace said taking a bite on his bun. "I wish I had the money to buy myself a proper lunch. These cheap buns are driving me insane."
"I thought you were now working," Roy said with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I do, but it doesn't pay very well," Peace said. He took another bite. "At least not yet."
"Yeah, right," Roy said with a laugh. "Man, I really love this place. I love the view." He gestured around him with his right hand. "Look at all the different girls at the school we get to see from over here. Big ones, small ones, chubby ones, slender ones, light skinned girls, dark ones. Man, look at that mama over there by the pond. Look at her back. That's a Nicki Minaj ass. I assure you; this girl has the finest ass at the school. Do you know her name?"
"No," Peace said as he took a bite on his bun. "You tell me."
"Monalisa," Roy said. "She lives in Masasa with her mother and younger sister. She's a form four student in the Commercial class. She's single too-"
"Man," Peace gasped. "How do you know all that?"
"I ask. She was dating some singer called Stoney from Redcliff barely three weeks ago. Good thing they broke up-"
"Dude!" Peace said.
"I'm serious," Roy said. "What does a loser like Stoney have to do with a girl like that?"
"You can't say something like that about someone."
"Why not?" Roy asked. "And since when do you care?"
"People change," Peace said sarcastically. "And by the way what happened to you? You never commented any other girl except Mitchell. What's up now?"
"People change," Roy said. "O.M.G. The new rich girl is coming to the tuck shop," Roy gasped.
"What rich girl?" Peace asked looking up.
"Her." Peace followed Roy's gaze and his eyes landed on the first girl he met at the Public Speaking club. Peace looked at her for a second and then slowly removed his gaze from her. "You mean that one?"
"Yeah. She's classy don't you think?" Roy asked his gaze still on the girl.
"She's rich?" Peace asked.
"Yeah," Roy replied. "Heard her uncle has quite a fortune of his. Damn, she's so hot too."
“She alright.”
“Alright?” Roy gasped. “Are you blind?”
Peace looked unimpressed. "I don't see what's the big deal about her."
"Man, that girl is a goddess. Look at the way she's walking, look at her eyes and hair!" Peace looked up at her again and spent some seconds staring at her. "Look at the eyes on her. Every eye is looking at her!"
“I still dont see it.”
“Dude, are you blind?”
"She's in the Public Speaking Club," Peace said rather ironically.
Roy looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Really?"
"Yeah."
"And you didn't think about mentioning this to me?" Roy said. "You're terrible, man."
"I didnt think I had to." Peace asked.
“What’s her name?”
“I dont know.”
"What? You know what, never mind." Roy shifted his gaze back to the girl. "Today I'm coming to your club-"
"Mitchell…"
"Doesn't matter," Roy said with a chuckle. "Dude, why didn't you tell me before?"
"I don't see what's the big deal about her," Peace repeated. "If I were to choose between her and that Monalisa girl, I'd choose the latter over her."
"Dude what's wrong with you?" Roy asked. "I thought you had good taste in women. Look at her." The girl was waiting in the queue waiting to be served. "She's Jesus' sister herself!"
"I don't see anything special about her," Peace said looking away.
Roy laughed. "You're crazy. Grace's still on your mind I guess."
Who?”
Grace,” Roy said the pressed his lips together. “Hold on a sec. Have you already forgotten about her already?”
“Shut up, Roy.”
“You see why I say you a terrible person?”
“So, thats why you had your girlfriend ambush me?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Roy said. “All I know is that you are going to hell.”
“Whatever," Peace said. "So, what does her uncle really do?"
"He is a businessman of some sort and I heard he owns some farms here in the Midlands and a lot of livestock including horses. And he’s not into politics-" Roy gasped. "Holy Mary, mother of Jesus! She's looking at us!"
Peace looked up slowly at the same time as he took a sip from his drink. His eyes met with the girl’s own and they locked for a second. She was holding a package with fresh chips, a sandwich and a Minute-Maid drink. Without any change of expression, Peace removed his gaze and looked at his friend who was talking. "I'm definitely coming to the Public Speaking Club today.”
“How do you know all this staff?” Peace asked with a chuckle. “You dont even know the girl’s name.”
“Research, dude,” Roy said. “What kind of a scientist would I be if I didnt research?” Roy returned his gaze back to the girl as she walked away and Peace followed his gaze. Roy looked so drawn into the girl already.
