dylan tate played by dylan o'brien F I V E ▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃ It was a new day of school. Another long day to suffer through however today was Friday. For some reason there was something that I had forgot, I shrug my shoulders as I walked down the long stairs of my house. "Finally! This flat ass takes the longest time to get up." I frown at my brother Dylan's voice. He too has joined the same high-school as me, he was also aware of the rankings in the school. I scowl as I took a seat in front of him, pouring some milk into my cereal. I placed the milk after the cereal, I would consider it as a crime to place the milk before the cereal. "Dylan, shut up. I'm not in the mood for your stupid voice, actually I'm never in the mood for it." I say sassily as Dylan rolls his eyes childishly. For a sixteen year old, he was irritating as hell. Dylan proceeds to talk, "Whatever, so what rank are you?" he asks casually, I almost choke on my cereal. Did my brother care about the rankings? After coughing vigorously I speak up, "Why? Do you actually care about the stupid ranking system?" I watch as Dylan's face morphed into a look of disgust. "No, it's stupid. I just wanted to know what rank my lame sister could get, I mean look at you." Dylan says twisting his lips into a smirk. "I'm a rank 2, my dear brother what rank are you?" I notice Dylan holding back a laugh, I furrow my eyebrows as he starts to let out his laughter. "Seriously Malia? Petty cheerleaders and stupid jocks? You're smarter than that." he drops his burnt toast into the rubbish can. Not all cheerleaders are petty, well most are. However for jocks, they could be smart if they weren't so stuck into the idea of being stupid to be known. "By the way Malia," Dylan pauses for a few seconds. "I'm in rank 1." My jaw drops on to the floor. My brother? Dylan was in rank 1, he's mixing with the wrong people. I gulp as he made his way towards the main door. "Wait! Don't go yet." I almost plead, I walk towards him quickly. Dylan turns around to face me, his eyes scanned my face in annoyance. "Hurry up, I have no time. Yuta is waiting for me." Dylan says impatiently. This is bad, really bad. Yuta will know that I'm the Malia he used to know. "Could you do me a favour?" I look at Dylan, he looks at me unsure before proceeding to talk. "I guess?" "Don't tell Yuta about me, pretend we're not related. He will find out that we used to be friends - I really don't want him to know." I explain as Dylan looks at me before letting out a low chuckle. "Seriously? I wasn't planning to tell anyone that you were my sister." I hit Dylan on the arm as he laughs, he takes off out the door as I sighed looking at him getting inside Yuta's car. Yuta wore a bored look as he sat in his car, his windows were down giving me a clear view of his structure jawline. It makes sense how he's in rank 1 but Dylan, it's going to be difficult for Dylan to survive in there. Dylan was always the type of guy that all girls would go for, even guys would go for him. But as his sister I would always look out for him so that he wouldn't do anything bad, but Dylan loves to play around with girls. You could say my little brother was a womaniser. _ I was late. I was too busy eating breakfast that I didn't even notice that time had gone so fast, yes - I eat breakfast. It's rare to find people eating breakfast these days. As I made my way inside school I noticed a girl standing beside my locker, it was Clarissa. Her curly hair bounced perfectly as she turned to face me. She smiles at me, exposing her cute dimples. "Mal!" she exclaims. I quirk one eyebrow up. "Mal? We're on nickname basis now Claire?" I look at her as she looked at me, after a few seconds we both laugh. "Claire, I like that." Clarissa says after a few seconds, she reaches out for my hand. I watch as she placed a silver key on to my palm. "This is a special key. It opens all the doors in this school." I clutch on to the key confused. "Why are you giving me this?" Clarissa looks at the key before looking back at me. She lets out a small laugh. "You'll be needing it later, Annabelle uses this key for her hookups." Clarissa tells me exposing Annabelle single heartedly. Annabelle Royal, the presumed gold digger. She would use this key to hook up with the people in this school? Why here? We came here to learn. "Are you trying to tell me that I would be hooking up with someone soon?" I shiver in disgust, I would never in school. Not even at this age. Clarissa shrugs her shoulder before looking at me, "Wait, are you a virgin?" she asks, her eyes widen noticing my expression. I maintain a straight face, however my face felt warm. I don't blush, this is embarrassing. In Selveridge high it's rare to have virgins. Personally being one gives me authority but it's dangerous since guys in this school would want to try out virgins. I purse my lips as Clarissa shook her head letting out a small laugh. "You're cute Mal. Too innocent for this high-school." she says patting my head. "Don't tell anyone this Clarissa. It would be hard for me to walk around with people knowing about this since it's rare for this school to have virgins." I look at her with a serious expression. Clarissa nods her head. "You're lucky I keep my promises Malia, if someone like Val heard this - let's just say you wouldn't really want to know." she tells me as I groan. Yesterday Val had made me add her number to my phone, she also dragged me outside my house to take me shopping. The girl shops for the longest time ever! She took six hours just to buy three things. "Oh Mal, you're sitting with me and my friends today. You agreed yesterday!" Clarissa tells me, that was the thing I forgot. Clarissa wants me to sit with her other rank 1 friends. My brother was a rank 1. I was going to have to face my brother? It's going to be hard to act like we don't know each other. Since Yuta will notice who I am, although he's already on to me. "I guess I'll see you at lunch period then." I tell her as the first period bell rings, it was time for me to go to my Economic class with Mrs Potter. The woman seemed to creep me out, she was certainly aware of a lot of things. When she handed me the sheet that had details about Vincent, it was as if she was testing me to see if I was going to read what was on there. I walk inside of her classroom, the room was filled up with many students already. I look towards the back to find my desk empty. Seems like Archer wasn't in, hopefully he doesn't turn up to this class. I'm afraid that I'll lose my temper once again in this class like yesterday, when I almost swore. "Miss Tate!" I groan mentally as I heard the voice of Mrs Potter. I notice her smiling widely as she scanned my face in glee. "Did you hand in the sheet to Mrs Yion?" she refers to the school nurse as I nod my head. She looks at me with a stern look. "Vincent handed that sheet to her himself, how did he get that letter - Miss Tate." "I bumped into him... I promise I didn't read anything, he took the letter and headed towards the infirmary - so I thought it would save me time if I let him take the letter since it was his." I explain clasping my hands together as if I was almost pleading her not to give me detention for lying. Mrs Potter lets out a light laugh. "You're lucky I'm not like the other teachers in this school, you're also lucky that I'm your home room teacher." she says as more students enter the room. "Wait, you're my home room teacher?" As if this day wasn't going bad enough, this weird woman was my home room teacher? "It's great isn't it? We can talk a lot more now!" she grins widely as I felt like dying inside. This woman was too happy, as if she was on drugs. I force a smile as I made my way towards my seat. I close my eyes as I lean on to the wooden desk, maybe a nap wouldn't hurt. Suddenly I'm awakened by the voice of the devils son himself. "You should wake up, I mean who else will entertain me in this class?" I flutter my eyes open to find Archer leaning on his chair with a smirk. "Can you leave me alone? I'd rather sleep than look at your idiotic face." I mumble as Archer clutches his heart dramatically. "Ouch, that hurt." he removes the false pained expression on his face as he returns to his usual smug face. "You could sleep with me." I gape at his words. He's trash, I've declared he is. Officially Archer Silva is trash. "I'm cringing at your words, you could've done better." I say disappointment. Noticing his old personality made me think about our old friendship. Archer widens his eyes, "I didn't mean it in that way, get your mind out of the gutter." he says with amusement lingering in his eyes. I deadpan, "What other way could you mean it in?" Archer smiles, "You know with soft pillows and a cosy duvet cover. No lights - cuddling and sleeping." his words were soft as he ruffled his raven hair. "Well boy, you could be doing that with your girlfriend. But you keeping playing around with girls to be doing that." "Wait... you actually thought I meant that? Well I didn't, hooking up is enough for me." Archer states bluntly as I look at him in disgust. He has changed so much but it's known for people to change, that's how we grow up. But Archer, he was never like this. He never used to play around with other people's feelings. My focus was directed towards the door which had just opened, Vincent Ace had walked into the classroom. He had the 'just got out of bed' hairstyle but for someone like him - it suited amazingly. I look at Archer who was texting on his phone, I elbow his arm. He groans as he turns his focus on me, "You know your friend over there," I point towards Vincent, "Does he talk?" Archer shook his head, "He talks to people he's comfortable with, nobody else." Archers words were the opposite of Val's, so it meant that Val had lied to me. What was her deal though? Why would she lie and tell me Vincent spoke to everyone? I didn't get her logic, I have a feeling I will be having future problems with Val. "Vincent!" Mrs Potter says excitedly as the boy looked at her with a blank expression, her smile doesn't falter - it was as if she was used to his facial expressions. "You barely attend this lesson, it's crazy how you're here. I wonder why." Mrs Potter wiggles her eyebrows, I uncomfortably shift in my seat by her actions. "Archer!" she shouts abruptly, Archer straightens his back as he looked at Mrs Potter. "Yeah?" he drops his phone into his bag slyly. "Vincent will sit beside Malia from now on judging by the way you two have been talking daily, I think it's better for you to move to the front." Archer frowns as he sat still on his chair. "But I don't want to move. I like sitting here next to her, it's Malia who talks to me, not me." Archer says knowingly lying about me. "Why would I talk to this trash?" I blurt out as the whole class looks at me in amusement, some people glare at me for disrespecting Archer since he's a rank 1. I notice Vincent looking at me, he keeps a calm expression. "Trash?" Archer says his tone rising as he clenched his stomach, I watch his muscles tense as he lets out a loud chuckle. "You're so bad at insults Malia." "Archer I had told you to do something and you're not doing it, will you please move to the front so Vincent can sit next to Malia?" Mrs Potter was waiting impatiently for Archer to move. Archer sighs before looking at me, "See you later Malia, you won't be able to ignore me - I'm your neighbour." Archer stands up grabbing all his things. I hear some people gasp at his statements. Great! He exposed that I live next to him, when words spread about me living next to him it will be hard to walk around without hearing jealous whispers of girls and boys. Archer finally moves to his new seat towards the front of the classroom. I felt a huge weight lifted off my back, finally! I can sleep without getting disturbed by Archer. Vincent takes a seat next to me, I'm hit by the contagious smell of his cologne - he smelt heavenly amazing. From my peripheral vision I notice Vincent pulling out his note books, as he opens them they were filled with detailed notes. I forget sometimes that Vincent is really smart. He sat quietly through out the lesson, not uttering a single word. Doesn't he feel bored not talking to anyone? I can't complain since I don't feel bored not talking to people, I find it peaceful. After the long period finished, I was going to rush out of the classroom immediately but a hand grips on my wrist. I turn to make eye contact with the one and only, Vincent Ace. I notice his Adam's apple bobbing as his intense brown eyes locked with mine, he gestured his hand towards my pencil case that sat on the desk. "Oh, I didn't even notice leaving that." I mumble picking up the pencil cause before placing it into my bag. I gulp before making my way out of my economic class, feeling drained already. I felt my phone vibrate, it was a message from Val. Val: where are u, have not seen u the whole day. I ignore the message as I made my way towards her locker, she was with Sally and Sarah. I look at Sarah who smiled at my presence. "Hey guys." I greet the three girls. I notice a few people staring at me, surely because I was the new girl. "How was Economics with Archer?" Val asks interested only because of Archer, not because of my well being. Sally then speaks up, "Must've been good since, you know - he's Archer." Val glares at Sally, "I wasn't asking you Sally. I was asking Malia." she says sternly as Sally cowers at Val's intense gaze. "He moved seats, it's much easier to sleep." I say taking out a fresh water bottle from my bag. I unscrew the lid taking a sip of the freshly cold liquid. However my water was snatched out of my grip, I turn abruptly to lock eyes with Archer - the culprit. He completely placed his mouth on my bottle as he drank it all. Val, Sally and Sarah freeze as they notice him standing next to me. "Not this again!" I groan snatching the bottle away from him, it was empty. "Thanks for that Malia, I was really thirsty for water. Seeing you drink that water made me want it." he says before patting my shoulder. "You can't leave like that! You drank my water." I shout, Archer throws me a devilish smirk. "Count it as an indirect kiss." he shouts back, Val gasps dramatically beside me. Students in the hallway gaze at me in shock. "Sally and Sarah, let's go outside. I need fresh air." Val says furiously as the two girls followed her out the school. Archer is so close to making me punch him, in fact he needed a punch right now.
