Chapter 10: In The Blink of an Eye

Slowly, Altalune never realized that she had been unlocking some of her strength. And one of it was the super speed. She just disappeared in front of Amaris, Aliz, and Whizka, right after she heard about the explosion from the courtyard of the Mahika Academy. Her speed reached the courtyard, and saw a group of bandits holding a spear, daggers, as well as bow and arrow.

They're a group of ugly monsters whose face were crumpled, eaten by termites, and drooling hungrily for foods. One by one, they were throwing grenades in front of the courtyard. Other monsters were as big as the immortals, creating a small earthquake, to prevent other professors from stopping them.

Students were disturbed by the explosion and earthquakes that all of them run outside to flee, but ended up being chased. The Headmaster was only watching them from the fourth floor of the building, doing nothing. The remaining professors were protecting the students while the monsters fighting them one by one.

None of them knew how they entered Mahika Academy. The Land of Hiwaga is not an ordinary place where one can easily enter and make some noise. All of them knew that without the Headmaster or Whizka, they cannot get inside. But, these ugly monsters are now ravaging and swarming in the courtyard.

"Who are you? How did you get in?" Whizka, along with Aliz suddenly appeared in front of the other professors protecting the students.

"We are a group of bandits. You know what bandits mean, right?" a voice from behind those monsters emerged talking answering Whizka.

His face is burn. Its left eyes were out, and his tongue was like a blade hitting the ground. He was taller than Whizka, but his deformed body prevented him from walking faster.

"And who are you? Are you the head of these bandits?" Whizka and the rest were on the lookout for any signs of moves the monsters were going to do with them. All of them were circling in front of Whizka was talking with their head.

"Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Buswang. And I am the head of these bandits. And our main purpose invading this magical land is to capture your powers!"

After saying those words in front of Whizka, the monsters began making noises, but Altalune stops them.

"Enough! You have no place here. Go home and don't come back!" she was shouting at them, making everyone turnaround and see herself. But, she did not realize that one of the monster suddenly threw a dagger into her direction. It was supposed to hit Altalune's left eyes, but Amaris interceded and caught the dagger.

"Amaris?" she called her name, but her guardian, her so-called mother, did not look back.

"Why don't you stay put, Altalune? You have no powers, and it's not right for you to put yourself in danger."

"But—"

Amaris did not listen to her. Her eyes were roaming from every corner, checking every little move the monsters are going to make.

"Kill her! Kill all of them, so we can get their powers!"

The head of the bandits ordered its monsters to kill Amaris and the rest. Spears, daggers, and poisoned arrows were pouring like rain. Whizka, Aliz and the rest immediately creates shield to stop those weapons to hit them.

The other monsters were busy throwing their spears, and daggers in front of Amaris while the latter keeps on fending it using only her bare hands. She was doing it to protect Altalune behind. She keeps on shading her from the many spears, and arrows dropping one by one in front of her.

Whizka and Aliz saw how Amaris was trying to protect herself. They can't leave the other professors guarding the students because only the two of them can keep the shield hanging longer with their powers. But, it seems that it was raining a lot of spears, and daggers from the ugly monsters.

"Come on! Stop protecting yourself. In no time, the shield you have would eventually destroy and all of your powers will be eaten by us!"

The head of the bandits is laughing evilly, keeping his position as stable as possible in front of the professors. He was watching both sides and waited for one of them to give up or end up being wounded.

The Headmaster continued to watch the scene below. He's not doing anything. He was sitting on his swivel chair, taking a sip of his brewed coffee. Likewise, he continued to watch the next scene, whether all of them can survive or not, in front of his academy.

ALTALUNE couldn't stand watching Amaris, her guardian wounded by the blades of the spears, and arrows she was throwing away left and right. She wanted to do something, but Amaris words were like a king and a queen, unbreakable. However, how hard she tried not to interfere, her mind is losing control. Every time she saw the blades of the spears and daggers wounded Amaris body, it made her angry.

There is something unusual inside her body that she can't explain. Amaris was already kneeling behind her, and she can no longer hide her madness. Her hands were clasping, making her eyes slowly blazing in red, and started walking in front of Amaris.

"Stop this at once, or you'll regret it!"

Amaris saw her sleepwalking. But, she speaks in front of the monsters. There is something in her body that controls her. She even saw the spears, and daggers stops, flying above all of them. Whizka and Aliz saw it too. The other professors and the students were also surprise seeing Altalune's body surrounded by blue and red flames.

"What if I said no? Bandits! Kill her!"

Monsters were running towards her. It creates huge earthquake on every stomp of their feet, trying to move forwards towards Altalune. The fifteen years old suddenly raised her head and immediately emits blazing blue and red flames. Its flames reached all ugly monsters, including the head of the bandits, and a huge explosion swallowed all of them.

After that explosion, Amaris saw Altalune slowly falling down unconsciously in front of her. Thanks to Lune, who suddenly appeared and caught her in his arms. In the blink of an eye, the monsters intruding Mahika Academy were vanished in the courtyard.

The uninvited visitors vanished into thin air. After Altalune released unexpected powerful flames from her body, it killed all the monsters, saving the Mahika Academy from danger.

The Headmaster saw it. He saw the unimaginable ray of lights getting out from the child's body. The flames blowing from her became an explosion that decapitated and dissolved the creatures. Without Altalune, Whizka, Aliz, and the rest would die.

"Altalune!"

Voices from the back of Lune, holding the unconscious body of the girl, was heard. It came from Whizka and Aliz who's faces were full of worries.

"Let me heal her," Aliz tried to put her left hand in front of Altalune's head, but she was stopped by Amaris. "Why?"

"Just let her fall asleep, Aliz. She's fine. No need to worry about her," she replied, giving her an assurance that Altalune is no longer in grave danger. "She's exhausted. Her body needs a rest. That's all."

"Amaris is right, Aliz. Do not fret. I can feel her heart beating back to normal. Let's just clean the mess and leave everything to Amaris and Lune. The academy needs us," Whizka put her hands on Aliz shoulders and help her stand. Her mind is assured that everything will be fine, now that everybody knew how powerful Altalune was.

"Go on, Aliz. I'll take care of my daughter. Lune, please carry her back to our home."

After saying the word daughter, none of them argued. Whizka, Aliz and the rests were watching, Lune carried Altalune in his arms, following Amaris direction to return to their home. All of them didn't utter any word. They were shocked. It was more like a surprised from each one of them.

Whizka and Aliz were relieved that Altalune has a powerful magic inside her that made her the strongest among the student.

"Just like what I told Amaris, Aliz. Altalune's power is hidden. For the time being, she's considered as our savior in Mahika Academy," Whizka said those words using her telepathic skills.

"Then, why don't we petitioned her with the headmaster to accept her as one of the students?" Aliz replied the same way Whizka was doing. She faced her and speak what's in her mind. "Will he accept her?"

"That's what I'm supposed to ask you, Aliz. Will the headmaster accept Altalune even if he knew what happened here?"

"Right. But, what's bothering me now is who is the person behind the appearance of those monsters? You knew that only you and the headmaster can unlock the portal to the Land of Hiwaga. Do we have enemies inside?"

"I don't know. That is one thing we need to find out. We should not let our guards down. We can't put the lives of the students in danger, or else the immortal parents will sue us from neglecting of duty. What we need to do is to fix the courtyard. You tell the students to return inside, and the professors to help you clean the courtyard, and I'll secure the portals to prevent anyone from entering again, Aliz."

"All right, I'll do that. Let's start."
