Chapter 1: Forbidden Love

Laya, Volcanic City,
2,500 feet above sea floor
Roughly, around three hundred years ago, Edan meets Mona, the Moon Princess in the Kingdom of Laal. He was escaping from his responsibility as the next crown prince of the Kingdom of Laya.
He planned everything just to escape, but ended up meeting an astounding beauty.
“Excuse me, what is your name? Why are you running away? What is this place?”
Her voice made his feet unmovable. His lips were sealed, unable to utter any words that could best describe her beauty. Her voice slowly making his heart beats faster. It was as if time stops in front of him, and she was the only person he could look at without anyone staring at them from afar.
“Hey, you!” Mona yelled and slap his face. Edan suddenly realize that he was hypnotized and that slap of her made him furious.
“What do you think you are doing, huh?”
“Are you blaming me? You stupid brat!”
“I'm not a kid, so don't treat me like you know me, okay?”
“Well. Well. Well, as if I'm interested in you?”
They were arguing each other. One is snobbish while the other one is impatient. Edan's illusion and fantasy were erased.
“I don't think she's my type. She's a brat, and not me. That's the right word best suited to her.”
“Brats can also be used to a guy like you. Don't you ever speak to your mind because I can hear it? I can even read minds, you know.”
Edan was shocked to hear that she can read minds. He turned around and faked his smile towards the girl he was talking.
“Do you really mean what you said? That you can read minds?” he took courage to confirm it to her.
“Of course. I even know what you were thinking earlier. It's as if you were head over heels to me. Well, that is totally true. I am the prettiest among the goddess in the Upperworld. My name is Mona, the moon princess. And you are?”
He was indeed surprised. He heard it right. Not only that, but he's not deaf. Likewise, he clearly said that she can read minds. And she was the moon princess. There is only one kingdom he knew that he heard about and that is Laal.
Edan cleared his throat before answering Mona. “Ahm. Well. Nice to meet you, princess Mona. My name is Edan, the soon-to-be crowned prince of Laya of the Volcanic City.”
He was pointing at an active volcano at the back and Mona can see from where she stands the cone-shaped volcano.
“You are escaping from responsibility, right?” she purposely asked Edan.
“Well, you can say that. And why do you care? I don't want to be a prince,” he said in disbelief.
“Me, too... as a princess. Do you want to go somewhere? A place where no one can see us?”
Edan was amazed. He did not expect the suggestion he heard from the moon princess. He guesses that she also left from her kingdom without anyone seeing her flee.
“Deal. Where are we going then?” he saw her lips formed a smile and was waiting to answer his question, but ended up grabbing his left hand.
Mona was smiling happily while holding Edan's hand. And all of a sudden, both disappeared from the Volcanic City and appeared in a place full of green surroundings.
“Where are we, Mona?” Edan was curious about the place they were in, but the moon princess did not bother answering him.
She was looking for someone from afar and when that person saw her, Mona called her name. “Amaris!”
The person named Amaris heard a familiar voice. She was busy making some plots in her garden when she called her. She stood up and walk towards her direction.
“What are you doing here, Mona? Do you know you're not welcome here? What if someone finds out and?” Amaris was not able to finish her words because she saw a man behind Mona. “Who is he?”
“I'm Edan from Laya,” he replied.
“What? You're the crown prince of Laya? Why? I mean why were you here? Mona?”
The 100 years old woman Amaris that time was curious about the two. Mona was her best friend. The king and queen of Laal entrusted them to her, but she refused accepting the responsibility. Instead, she ended up being her best friend.
She knew as well the princes of Laya, and Edan was among the princes that a lot of women in Volcanic City admired the most. She could not figure out why the two of them appeared in Hiwaga.
“Excuse me, Amaris. Could you please tell me where am I, and what is this place?” Edan's curiosity still linger his mind.
“This is Hiwaga. It is the land full of magic and superpowers. No one is allowed to enter here without permission from the head of the academy,” Amaris explained while glaring at Mona, whose smiling at her.
“Let's go somewhere in a place that no one can see us, Edan. Amaris, you're our lookout, so please, please, just this once, allow us to go to my favorite place. Okay? Love you, Amaris. Bye.”
Amaris wanted to stop her because she won't agree, but she can't. Mona and Edan disappeared like a wind. The lady shook her head and heave a sigh. She just wished that no one will find out their existence in the Land of Hiwaga.
Edan once again was unfamiliar with the place. There's a waterfall in front of them. Mona was dancing like there is no tomorrow in front of the giant waterfall. The wind entering his skin was as cool as the moon shining during the night.
Mona keeps on dancing. Moving her hands in the air and swaying her hips back and forth. He was looking at her differently as she smiled at him, keeping the pace of her dance steps. Edan's heart was beating faster, and before he could utter any words, he grab Mona's right hand, pulling her into his sturdy chest.
He was staring at her while Mona slowly closes her eyes. Edan knew what she wants and without hesitation, he kissed her lips as passionate as he could, making her wanted more. And the rest was history.
