Chapter 8: The Man’s Aggressive Intimidation

641 Words
"Uncle, I can still drink. Let’s have another round." The voice, slurred with inebriation, was faintly familiar. Yet Xueqi remained concealed in the shadows cast by the bamboo, ornamental trees, and kapok flowers, not daring to reveal herself. Butler Li emerged. "Escort Young Master Huo to the guest room to rest and prepare some hangover tea," Wu Xie instructed coolly, his voice resonant and exquisitely husky. "I don’t want to. I want more alcohol." The brazen, unruly tone accompanied by stumbling footsteps. "Cause any more trouble, and I’ll send you to Africa," Wu Xie’s voice grew colder. Butler Li, supporting the thoroughly intoxicated and somewhat aggrieved young tyrant of the Huo family, quickly guided him to the guest room before he could stir up more chaos. The anteroom fell silent once more. Xueqi shielded the pale glow from her computer screen and strained her ears to catch the sounds. Wu Xie, instead of going upstairs, brewed a cup of coffee in the anteroom. The aroma of the coffee drifted through the window and into the garden, making Xueqi furrow her brow. She picked up her computer, preparing to stealthily enter the anteroom from the distant tea room and return to her own room. The glass door slid open, and Wu Xie, holding a cup of coffee, said in a voice both captivating and resonant, "Waiting for me?" The man stood by the window, his tall and straight figure accentuated by a well-tailored suit, his face handsome as ever, adorned with a disingenuous smile, and eyes darker than the night. Xueqi’s back broke out in a cold sweat. She straightened up, clutching her computer, and replied, "No." Having been discovered, she had no choice but to enter the anteroom through the nearest door. The aroma of coffee mingled with a trace of alcohol. Had he been drinking? The thought crossed her mind as Xueqi lowered her eyes, frowning, and walked toward her bedroom. Before she had taken three steps, her slender waist was gripped tightly, and a man's breath enveloped her. Xueqi's face changed abruptly. She instinctively glanced around the empty anteroom and coldly commanded, "Let go." Wu Xie held her delicate waist with one hand while sipping his coffee with the other. His grip tightened, and he said in a low, commanding tone, "Swallow back what you just said." Each word was deliberate and forceful. The man’s strength was overpowering, making her waist ache. She turned her face away, trying to create some distance, ignoring the intense warmth around her waist, and pressed her lips together in silence. "Since you’re back, don’t be so pretentious. Your so-called aunt and cousin are in the Wu family, aren’t they?" Wu Xie leaned closer to her neck, inhaling her faint, elusive fragrance. His smile widened with a lazy air as he added, "Oh, I stand corrected. It’s your mother and brother." Xueqi was horrified, her body stiffening abruptly, her fingers trembling uncontrollably. She turned her head in haste and said, "What are you talking about?" In their close proximity, as she turned, her lips accidentally brushed against the man's ear, causing Wu Xie’s breath to grow heavy. In such close quarters, five years since their last intimate encounter, Wu Xie’s eyes, dark and narrow, were filled with ominous light. He looked at Xueqi, who was desperately trying to mask her panic, and softly whispered into her ear, "Before your mother was with my father, she bore you. Moreover, she was a nightclub’s princess." Xueqi’s mind snapped, and before she could fully process the revelation, she had already slapped him. There was a deathly silence in the side hall. The man's handsome face turned completely gloomy. He looked at Xue Qi who was trembling all over, then lowered his head and clasped her head, fiercely grabbed her trembling thin lips, and the shadow pressed down.
