I pulled on the mask, feeling the familiar weight of it once more, then I walked over and dressed in a long white dress, a replica I'd made of my mother's wedding dress. I wanted word to get back to the King, and have him wonder if he'd actually killed my mother, or if she was the one seeking revenge. No shoes. No weapons. I didn't need them. And I slipped out the window, my bare feet landing silently on the ivy-choked masonry of the outer wall, and descended into the shadows of the compound. I saw the guards wondering around, but none of them saw me. No one ever did unless I wanted them too. Theron's quarters were in the furthest wing of the pack house, tucked away behind heavy oak doors. I waited for a guard to finish his patrol before I moved down the hallway, and pulled the latch. T
