Promise me.

The Vampire Queen's Pet Chapter 14 Jax's point of view. Darius and the pack of wolves lead us back to the edge of the forest; he turns to look at us as he says. "Let me know when it's time to take the Vampires down; I want in. Those bloodsuckers have been causing s**t for far too long." He looks at Ysabella as he says. "Sorry, no offence meant to you." Isabella giggles as she replies. "None taken, Darius." He pulls her into a hug before turning his back on us and changing into his massive wolf form; he lets out a howl before disappearing into the dense woods. Just 24 hours ago, I didn't think that werewolves; were real, but pretty soon, I'll be going to war with a whole pack of them on my side. I can't help but grin; our odds of winning this war just got a hell of a lot better, that's for sure. I take Ysabella hand as we make our way back to the bunker; I can tell the trek is beginning to catch up on her now; Bear grins when I scope her up into my arms as we walk the last couple of miles. When we get back, the first thing I do is head into the medical room to grab a bag of fresh blood, and I hook it up as Ysabella struggles to keep her eyes open. She smiles as I lean down and kiss the top of her head as she says. "Do you really think that is possible, Jax, that this curse can be reversed?" I take her hand mine as I sit down on the bed next to her as I reply. "I don't see why not; Bear is pretty convinced of this high witch's power." Her face turns serious as she whispers. "If it does not work, Jax, can you promise me something." I raise my eyebrow as I ask. "Promise you what, baby?" She looks to the floor before saying. "Promise me that you will kill me; I can not go on any longer living my life as a Vampire." "I can't promise you that, Ysabella; I just can't, baby." A tear slips down her cheek as she says. "I can't go on like this anymore; it is killing me inside, Jax." I nod my head, pulling her into my arms as I say. "Okay, if that's what you want, I promise, but you have to promise me something too." She lifts her head up to look me in the eyes as she says. "What?" "You have to promise me to live, to fight as hard as you can to come back out the other side, baby, because, without you, my life would no longer be worth living. I love you, Ysabella." She smiles. "I love you too, Jax, and I promise to fight as hard as I can to find my way back to you." I take hold of her chin, kissing her with everything that I have, knowing that she will fight for me, for us, because if I have to go through with my promise, it will break me. This beautiful woman has quickly become my everything, and I can not imagine my life without her by my side. We hold on to each as if our lives depend on it. Once I realise Ysabella has fallen asleep, I unhook the drip before tucking her up in bed and kissing her cheek before leaving. "I love you, baby," I whisper as I close the door. I head straight into the kitchen; before finding a glass and a bottle of whisky, I fill it to the brim before throwing it down my neck. Bear looks over at me as he asks. "Are you okay, son?" I sigh as I top up the glass and offer another one to Bear as I say. "Define what you class as, okay? Would that include telling a beautiful woman that you love her whilst promising to kill her if the high witch can not turn her back human?" I slam my empty glass down on the worktop; as Bear fills them both up again, he says. "f**k man, that's some deep shit." I nod my head. "Yes, but the worst thing is, if the spell doesn't work, I don't think that I will be able to keep my promise to her. How the hell am I meant to go through with that." Bear empty his glass; he places his arm around my shoulder as he says. "The high witch brought my sister back from the dead Jax, I'm sure turning a Vampire back human will be a walk in the park for her, but if the worst were to happen im here for you, Son and I promise to do whatever needs to be done, can I ask you why she wants you to make that promise?" I rub my hand over my chin before I say. "She said that being a Vampire is killing her inside." "Damn, she's a tough little cookie, though, Jax. If anyone can make it through this, she will." I fill my glass again before I say. "And if she doesn't?" I see the torment in his eyes. In these last couple of days, Bear has come to think of Ysabella as a friend. He sighs as he whispers. "You do what you have to do, Jax no one else can make that decision for you son, just know that I'll be by your side to do whatever you need me to do." Fuck……… for the first time in my life, im doubting whether I will be strong enough to kill a Vampire, but we both know that Ysabellla is no ordinary Vampire; she is a human in Vampire skin. Forced to turn against her will. One who can not kill, one who can not drink blood, one who is slowly drowning inside a foreign skin. I hate that King for what he's put her through. She promised me she would fight to get back to me, and that's what I have to focus on because the other option just can not happen. I can not lose my beautiful Vampire Queen. She will survive this; she has to.
