Chapter 16

Jax's point of view

I grin as I hook up another bag of blood; fingers crossed, I get to go for round three later. I kiss her sweet lips as I leave her lying in the bed as the blood drips through, and I walk out of that bedroom door feeling like a f*****g king.

Everyone's eyes turn to look at me when I walk into the living area; Bear chuckles as he says, your breakfast is still here though I think it might be cold now.

I grin, still feeling like a f*****g king as I grab my cold breakfast and throw it down my neck, like a starved man.

Bear watches me with a raised eyebrow as I say.

"What? I'm starving-man."

He chuckles as he replies.

"Don't worry, Son, we all heard you working up an appetite."

I shrug my shoulders with a grin on my face, Bear and the rest of the team know me well, this is just banter between the boys, and I know none of them will embarrass Ysabella. They have too much respect for her.

I spend the next couple of hours in the tech room with Bear and Cookie, named as his mother always sent cookies with him, whenever he went on a mission, I have two teams coming in tomorrow with more supplies; Darius and his Pack are now in contact with us plus the team's from around the world who are making their way into the country, Stan is still bunkered down at the Crypt. However, King Areons army has now left him alone. I've told Stan to stay put, though, as I think it's a ploy for Stan to lead him to myself and Ysabella.

And there's no way I'm putting Ysabella's safety at risk, I promise to protect her, and that's what I intend to do. I will lay down my life for her if I have to; there's no way she's ever going back to that monster who had the audacity to call himself her husband.

When we eventually emerge from the tech room, I find Ysabella in the living room talking to Ben. Ben is the youngest member of Bears team.

He reminds me of my younger self, a bit of a loose cannon, wanting to find his place in the world. I've listened to Bear talk about Ben and how he lost both his parents in a car crash; he started drinking and doing drugs in the hope to take him away from his nightmares. He joined the army after getting arrested and realising his life was spiralling out of control, and when he was assigned to Bear's team, the big guy took him under his wing and taught him everything he knew, just as he did with me all those years ago.

I watch as Ysabella giggles as she listens to him talk; I can't help the pang of jealousy that is at the back of my mind, but as soon as I see her giggling and smiling, it fades away.

I like seeing this carefree side of her. Her face lights up when she smiles, and I no longer see that haunted look in her eyes.

She's happy……

And that means the world to me, and I hope to God that I never see that look on her face again; if Ben can make her smile, then he's a good man.

Almost as if Ysabella can sense my eyes on her, she turns her head to look at me and smiles even more.

Damn.

I smile back, unable to take my eyes off her; she's so f*****g beautiful. I'm still staring at her when Bear nudges my side, making me jump.

He chuckles as he says.

"f**k, man, you're losing your touch."

I sigh; he's right when Ysabella looks at me like that; it's like we're surrounded by our own little bubble as the rest of the world fades away.

Bear pats me on the back before he says.

"I'd ask you who's got that goofy grin on your face, but I already know the answer as you haven't taken your eyes off her, lad."

I chuckle.

"She's, amazing Bear. I'm not going to deny it."

Bear throws his head back with a laugh as he says.

"My boys in love."

I grin as I reply.

"You know what, Bear, I am absolutely head over heels in love with her and I don't care who f*****g knows it's."

Bear laughs.

"It looks good on you, Son."

He says before he places a bottle of beer in front of me; Ysabella says something to Ben before she excuses herself and starts to walk over to me.

My sexy little Vampire.

I pull her onto my knee as I take her lips in mine; she kisses me back, uncaring of the people around us. In the last few days, she has gotten to know these guys pretty well, she knows they have her back just as much as they have mine, and she also knows that every one of these guys is happy for us.

Tonight I want to forget about her crazy husband and the fact that she's a vampire. Tonight I want to forget that in a few weeks, we will return to Eden forest as the high witch tries to break the Vampire curse. I can't even think about what will happen if the spell doesn't work.

Tonight I just want to have fun with my girl, forget everything that's going on around us and celebrate what we have right now.

We finally break apart to a room full of whistles, and I laugh as she blushes; I've never seen a vampire blush before. It is kind of sexy to see some colour on her pale face.

I hand her a beer as we drink the night away.

Ninety minutes later and I have to laugh as Ysabella balances on one of the tables surrounded by a room full of men egging her on.

No longer is she that frightened woman anymore; tonight, she's a free woman and boy, does it look good on her.

She dances with every man in the room before she wobbles back to me and throws her arms around my neck as she whispers in my ear.

"Thank you, Jax."

I pull her closer as she rests her head on my shoulder as I reply.

"What for baby?"

She sighs as I keep my arms around to hold her steady.

"Setting me free….…."

I smile as I say.

"You should have never been caged to start with Ysabella. I love you so much, baby, and I'm never letting you go."

I can't…...she is my reason for breathing.
