The Vampire Queen's Pet Chapter 10 Jax's point of view Why does she have to feel so good in my arms?.... We're cuddled up on the sofa; when the end of the film credits rolls by, I whisper Ysabella's name when I realise that she hasn't moved. "Ysabella, baby?" I look down and chuckle when I see her fast asleep, her head resting on my shoulder; even when she sleeps, she's so f*****g beautiful. I sit and hold her, just for a while….I tell myself. Tomorrow I will put some distance between us. I have to for my own sanity; how the hell can I be attracted to a Vampire, it just isn't right. It doesn't make any sense at all. I let out a sigh before picking her up and carrying her to bed; she's so light in my arms. She seems too fragile to be a Vampire, too small. If she were human, I'd be wanting to feed her up; she's nothing but skin and bones. I know that having a constant supply of fresh blood is going to help her, but I wish that there was more that I could do for her. She lets out a tired yawn as I place her in the bed; I cover her up and kiss the top of her head, struggling to get my emotions under control, I just can't get my head around this attraction, and no matter how hard I try I find it impossible to pull away from her. I don't want to pull away from her, but I know that I have to try. I quietly close the door before heading down the hall into the tech room, checking if any new messages have come through. Stan sends me a message from the crypt. It seems the Vampire King has sent his people to watch over them. No doubt waiting for me to come back, I clench my fist as I reply with another coded message. Letting him know to stay put, at least for the time being. Let the King watch all he wants. I won't be turning up there; I will take myself to him when he least expects it. King Areon is mine, Stan, and the boys from the Crypt can deal with the King's army that is waiting there. I will head to the Palace, and my other teams will take out the rest of the bloodsuckers. When I check the rest of the messages, I have a reply from bear, and It seems he will be at the bunker tomorrow with the rest of his team. Bear is one of my military men; I served alongside him for seven years; he is the biggest, baddest, hardest man that I have ever known; when I first joined the army, he took me under his wing and taught me everything I know, he is the only father figure that I've ever had in my life. I grin as I read his message. I'd hate to be a vampire right now. After I've gone through all the messages, I bring in another animal to refill the blood bank replacing the bag of blood and placing the full one in the fridge. I'm thankful to get in front with supplies; I don't want to see Ysabella as weak as she was this morning. She had me worried for a while. I finally crawl into bed; yes, you guessed it, she fills my dreams with her haunting eyes. The following morning I'm up early, heading back into the tech to check the many messages still piling in; our army is getting stronger by the day as our allies join forces; once finished, I head into the medical room, taking the blood from the fridge and replacing it with a fresh bag before going into Ysabella's room and setting up the drip for the blood, thankfully she's awake today and looking much stronger. She smiles at me as she says. "Thanks, Jax." One little smile is all it takes to make me weak at the knees. I don't know how I'm going to walk away from this woman. I mumble a reply before heading outside to release my latest kill, vowing to keep as much distance between us as possible. I'm in the tech room when I hear Bear's voice come booming down the corridor; yep, nothing changed there. The man is still larger than life itself in every way possible way, and I soon find myself lifted off my feet as his massive arms surround me. He puts me down with a chuckle ruffling my hair as he says. "It's good to see you, Son." I laugh, releasing myself from his arms as I reply. "You too Bear, It's been too long." Ysabella walks into the room after hearing the commotion from down the hallway. She looks up at Bear as he towers over her; I chuckle as she takes a step back. He may look scary, damn he is scary, but he is the nicest person you could ever meet. He looks down at her, then over to me with a grin on his face as he says. "And who is this little lady?" I smile as I introduce them both. "Bear, meet Ysabella, Ysabella, this is Bear, one of my old army buddies." I say I don't think there's any need to say anymore; Ysabella is not a threat to anyone. Bear looks over to me with a glint in his eyes as he says. "It's nice to meet you Ysabella, no wonder my boy has been missing in action if he's locked away with a beauty like you." I feel my cheeks burn; I shake my head as I say. "King Areon has been keeping Ysabella as a slave; I helped her to escape and brought her here to keep her safe." Bear raises his eyebrows before he turns to me and whispers quietly. "You like her, though, don't you, Son? It's written all over your face, boy." Shit, am I that obvious? I don't reply to him, not trusting the words that will come falling from my mouth, besides Bear has always been able to read me, so there's no point in lying to him. I do like her, far more than I should.
