Kendra opened her eyes, feeling rested for the first time in months. She blinked a few times to clear her eyes and take in the sight around her.
She immediately noticed that her room was different. It was the same bedroom but her walls weren't their usual burgundy, it was back to the landlord off-white.
Kendra sat up and rubbed her eyes and took a real good look around. This was their old bedframe, and her night stand was facing a different way. What was going on?!?
Her phone buzzed beside her.
Kendra's eyes darter over to where her phone was. She picked it up and say his name on the notification. This was getting too weird. She hadn't sooken to him in almost a decade, she didn't even know his current number.
Then Kendra had a crazy thought. She opened the calendar app on her phone and sure enough, it said September 22nd, 2015. The day after her 23rd birthday. She had no idea how this was even possible. Kendra wondered if this was just a dream, but it felt different and too real.
Kendra looked back at messages.
Her heart skipped a beat when she saw his name again. Luke.
Kendra clicked on his name and read his message.
"Good morning gorgeous, I hope you had as good as a time as I did yesterday. Let me know when you're up, I've got another surprise for you"
She couldn't help but get butterflies in her stomach. Was this really happening? Had some power in the universe really dropped her off in her past, the day after the best date of her life.
She didn't care if she didn't know the how or why, she was going to take advantage of this.
Her smile quickly faded when she saw the second name down in her list of texts.
Henry.
A wave of guilt washed over her. That was the man she loved for years, through many ups and downs. Yet here she was, excited to see Luke's name back in her phone. Kendra shook off the guilt. There's no way she was placed back in this moment to feel like s**t and beat herself up.
She wasn't going to be scared of the unknown anymore, she was going to embrace it and go all in. Kendra blocked and deleted Henry's number, then went to her social media accounts and did the same there as well, with him and his family members. Something she should have done before.
She oddly felt relieved by those actions.
Now it was time to put into motion what she had always wondered about.
Kendra grabbed her phone and texted Luke back, in hopes of seeing him as soon as possible.
