"What is wrong with you Josey? '' Alexa questioned, trinkets of sweat unexpectedly appeared on Josey's forehead, her palms followed suit, and her head started gallivanting.

"You mean that young man I bumped into is the man I will be working for Alexa,no..no ..let me recap, Alexa, are you trying to tell me that this is the man you and I are sent to Spy on? She whispered.

"Shhhhhhh" Alexa motioned with her finger on her lips, "quiet Josey, someone might hear you, just shut up..shut it already", Alexa lashed out at her silently.

Almost immediately, the staff who had led them into the conference room walked in and informed them that the meeting would take place in the room opposite the conference room, letting them know that each finalist would be called in by the panel in turns.

The qualified finalists were eight in number, one candidate to be chosen for the front desk role and another for the role of the CEO's secretary.

Minutes passed by, and Josey Adams was called in. Josey, who had summoned all the forces of Courage in the universe, walked into the board room nervously.

"Hello everyone" she smiled, "I am Josey Adams",.."Sit "a voice thundered, Josey looked up in the direction of the voice only to be graced with the soul-piercing eyes of Clark Robinson staring furiously at her with a deadly grin on his face.

"Okay …thanks."She reacted, sitting instantly. A major stakeholder commended her for her detailed resume, as three other board members asked her questions in turns, to which she replied confidently with a smile on her face.

Josey had prayed in her heart, not to be asked a question by the CEO because she feared she might go numb instantly.

"Josey Adams" why do you think we should employ you," Clark Robinson asked. At this moment, the world around Josey came crashing down, her brain became blank, and she searched for the perfect answer to give the "Beast". He would make matters worse by staring at her deep in the eye, with his back bent towards the table, his chest leaning forward and his hands outstretched on the table seemingly choking her.

"Because I am in love with you," She said softly with a teardrop falling down her face.

There was a deafening silence instantly among the panelists, with each looking at the other in turn. It has never been heard nor seen from the inception of the company's birth that an applicant has ever dared to look the Beast in the eye and utter such words.

A feeling of darkness gripped Josey instantly, "what did she just do, where did these answers come from, where did she buy her audacity from", she asked herself. Josey knew she was in for doom, she understood that this was the end of the road for her. Josey figured out that she just needed to go home, bid her little sister farewell, and wait for her execution. "How dare she ", the nerves"...

Clark Robinson chuckled at her answer, surprised at her brashness, amazed at her answer, and he certainly didn't see it coming.

"Josey Adams, please wait for a response in the conference room, thank you for your time ", one of the panelists said dismissing her.

Josey felt her limbs go weak as she struggled to walk back to the conference room. "Josey! Alexa called out, are you okay?..you appear to have seen a ghost, what's up with your body language"?

Alexa stood confused, not knowing what to do next because Josey had been staring into space from the moment she sat down.

Alexa watched as four other applicants came back into the room with dull appearances. Among them was a lady who came in, sobbing uncontrollably. A total of six candidates were interviewed. Alexa and another young lady in her 20s were the only two candidates awaiting their session.

"Alexa Bill" please come in, the staff beckoned. Fifteen minutes later, Alexa came back in with a smile on her face, humming an unknown song excitedly.

The last applicant was called but came back seven minutes later, cussing at the panelists, while calling the Company unprintable names.

The staff who led them in for their interview came back after a while and called out Josey Adams as the CEO's Secretary and Alexa as a Senior Front desk Officer, congratulating them on their job offers while wishing the others the best of luck in their different endeavors.

The six other applicants stood up to leave, bidding them goodbye. Josey and Alexa couldn't describe their feelings of excitement. For Josey, words had failed her. She was surprised, excited, nervous, and all the emotions came rushing in at her.

"Yes,..Yes.We made it, " Alexa said excitedly with her hands folded and tossed up in the air, showing her happiness as she pulled out her phone from her bag to tell Smith the good news.

"Josey Adams, please come with me, let me take you to your office," the lady staff member said, gesturing with her hands. Josey followed the woman into an ethereal office.

The office was the widest room she had ever seen. There was a big white uniquely sculptured table with a big desktop computer at one end of the table, a black MacBook, some office accessories, two big white flower vases at two ends of the office wall, awards, honorariums filled in a tall glass cupboard, and a little picture frame on the table, amongst others was seen in the enclosure.

"That is your workspace", the staff said, pointing to a little corner with work tools on it, and a comfy office chair to match." Please wait for the CEO to come so he can authenticate your fingerprint on the Office door, so you can access it even without your work ID".

The staff turned to leave after telling her all she needed to do. Immediately after the staff stepped out, Josey ran to Clark's work table to take a proper look at it.

"What are you doing there?" a voice growled, as he made his way towards her.

Her body froze at the instance of his words, causing her to panic ."Uhmm..nothing, I am so sorry, I was just looking… ", she stammered, turning to look at him in the face.

She was now face-to-face with him, their bodies three inches apart from each other. She wanted to remain in that moment, his eyes locked in hers, her eyes wanting him, lost in his warmth, in his smell…

It became evident to Josey that her mission here would be impossible. She was in love.
