Chapter Nine Originally a delicate woman, not a man

1752 Words

"Be careful, don't let the wound get wet." The painted-face man bustled about, rushing in and out in a flash. By the time Chen Ping was soaking naked in a large wooden tub, being scrubbed with soap, he was nowhere to be seen. The soap was made from pig pancreas and wood ash; it had a strange smell, but wasn't unpleasant. His long hair was stuffed into the water and vigorously scrubbed for a while, then drained with clean water… The real problem was his back; it itched so much that Chen Ping writhed and rubbed himself frantically on the tub, but it still wasn't quite clean. In later times, he would have needed two teachers to scrub it thoroughly… The water was a dark, ashen color. Even he himself found it disgusting. He sighed helplessly and called out, "Painted Face, come help me."
